Currently, we hold the 6th seed based on common games tiebreaker vs Cincinnati. Does this hold up if the Bengals beat Baltimore the final week?
If the Jets, Bengals, and Chargers all finish 9-7 the Jets would be the odd team out per CBS. So you guys have to win out.
That doesn't address the question the OP asked. OP: Right now we have a 10 win lead over the Bengals in strength of victory so if we both finish 2-0 down the stretch it comes down to strength of victory. Analysts are saying most likely that tiebreaker leans toward us even if the Bengals for 2-0.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that the Eagles and Chargers win their divisions, something that seemed like an impossibility this morning.
If the Jets and Bengals both win out, it goes down to strength of schedule. Which hasn’t yet been determined. One thing that helped is the Ravens losing tonight, the Bengals play them twice a year. A Steelers lose would also be huge tomorrow night. We also have to root for our division opponents to win games so our strength of schedule goes up.
Not true - it depends on who the loss is against. The Jets can still get in if they lose to the Giants but beat the Dolphins if Cincinnati loses to Baltimore. If they beat the Giants but lose to the Dolphins they're out. Even if every game goes wrong next week (NYG over NYJ, Den over Buf, Cin over Ari, SD over Det, Ten over Jac, Oak over KC), the Jets still make the playoffs if in the final week the Jets beat Mia, Bal beats Cin, SD beats or ties Oak, and Hou beats or ties Ten, all of which are quite possible.
