It's Ryan's third year, and while his regime has been extremely successful so far, at best, the Jets will be the 6th seed again in the playoffs. That's if they even get there. If the Jets and Ryan were still talking SB (please no guarantees) at this point, they would look ridiculous. It's okay to call it the ultimate goal, as it should be, but they need to focus game to game with just making the playoffs their priority. I like that they have piped down. If they lose this week, it's not because they were quiet.
true. We didnt say sh!t all week preparing for the Steelers and we came out flat. This has been said many times but I think its true, the Jets play better when Rex and others are boosting and taking to the media.
Toning it down is what worries me. The Jets feed off of emotion, without that fire, I'm a little worried that they get it done. Having that hard nosed, talking shit mentality has gotten us to the AFCCG twice in a row. I don't know why your title seems to indicate this is such a great thing. I guess we'll see.
Yeah because talking prevents people from tackling and makes Schotty call terrible plays (worse than normal). People whine about the talking too much, let them do what they do and just win baby.
Just watched the Pittsburgh game highlights for the first time I could it have been possible to make any more mental mistakes? Missed tackles, bad play calls, stupid penalties and poor clock management. But Dirty was pretty damn good in the second half of the game that day. That defensive line was too old glad we have some youth there and at linebacker. No question in my mind this years defense is better than last seasons.
The Jets were playing for a chance to go to the fucking Super Bowl against Pittsburgh. Did they really need to trash talk or to make headlines with their mouths to get fired up? If so, they didn't have any business even being in that game.
For anyone who doesn't think the Jets play with emotion W or W/out Boasting or Shit talking is nuts...
I agree, I liked that we had an identity as the bravado team. It gave us something to play for - after talking, we couldn't go out there and embarrass ourselves, we had to back it up. (Though in the end, I honestly don't think it will make that much of a difference in our play at all).
We may have toned down in the media, nut the "cant wait" interview said a lot about our overconfidence last year when Mendenhall ran all over us in the first half.
Seriously, I can't remember the last time they were making noise in the press. ESPN is always Johnny Come Lately. Although I'm sure they'll figure out a way to turn this 'new development' into a week long segment. 'Have the Jets lost their bark? In the next hour we will ask Jets experts Rich Cimini, Mark Canizarro, and Mike Florio.'
