Someone please run Selig out of the mlb and Wilpon out of NY.

Its becoming farcical..we have approx $44 mil tied up in 2 players and Alderson is expected to build a roster with just $55 million...madness...

Through alll the depression and the fact that the cunt that is Bay will again steal a living Murphy/Davis/Duda and Wright is a pretty strong 2/3/4/5...the rest of the order is shit

Exactly, Donald Sterling made a fortune off of being a slum lord. I'm sure he could figure out how to make money out of a losing basketball franchise.

Hilarious stuff... MLB will own them half way through the year.

"Missed this on Christmas Eve as I was decking the halls and stuff, but Richard Sandomir has yet another article underscoring just how bad off the Wilpons and the Mets are, financially speaking:

Their $430 million loan on the team is due in 2014. Their $25 million loan from M.L.B. is past due and repayment has been extended. They recently borrowed $40 million from Bank of America. Their valuable network, SNY, is also heavily leveraged, to the tune of $450 million, a loan that must be repaid in 2015. And the Mets’ Citi Field bond payments leapt from $19 million last year to $43.7 million. That is a lot of borrowing for a team that lost $70 million last season and had faltering attendance."

Pretty strange that he would risk about $4 million to do this, rather than wait until his career is over, but it's his choice. Hope he knows how to climb mountains.

I don't know how I never saw this but Francessa really is the worst. I know he's got to fill up his show but he makes the game threads here look calm and reasoned. All of this for a 4 game series in April, really?

Meh, Mount Kilimanjaro is not a tough climb for anybody with average fitness, let alone a professional athlete (even a pitcher).

Ray Dickey's book will be out in March.

His name is Ray. I have no clue why people pronounce it "are ay". J.A. Happ correctly pronounces J.A. as "jay".
