If things go our way this upcoming week (Cin loses to Hou, Ten to NO, Oak to GB, and we win) we could become the current undisputed 6th seed, and it will be ours to lose. 2 of those 3 other team matchups will very likely go our way, and Cin losing to Hou is also very possible.

Hou beat Atl this week, and maybe it's just me but I think they're better than Cin or Ten, and that's week one as a starter for Yates.

That is a hell of a lot better than the situation we were in after Denver. It continues to look better for us each week (on the outside), we just need to worry about winning our games and not lose our minds worrying about everyone else IMO.

Giants pose a big problem for the Jets IMO. Sanchez will get pounded and probably throw a pick and fumble.Don't see the Jets Oline holding up. Miami also not the pushover they appeared earlier. I want the Jets to make it though.Pats need to avenge 2010 playoff loss.

I don't think there's any way Houston loses the division to the Titans. The Titans won't win this week, and the Texans are playing a banged up Bengals team that's had trouble stopping the run the past couple of weeks. That scenario would clinch the division for the Texans. I told everyone who would listen that the Texans would beat the Falcons. Yates is a much more capable QB than most people realize.

The Jets have a good chance of catching the Titans since they'll have 2 likely losses this week and at Houston week 17. There is something special going on down here in Houston. No matter who goes down the player filling in for them has stepped up. Brooks Reed got a sack in his first 5 games starting for Mario. The receivers and TE's all stepped up in AJ's place. We smashed the Titans at their place a few weeks ago. They're really not that good of a team. They should have lost against Tampa Bay a couple of weeks ago. That game hurt.

Not saying there aren't challenges, all teams have challenges coming up. The giants have lost 4 in a row and have to go to Big D. I think the Jets will beat KC this week which is all that matters. Survive and advance. The Jets OL didn't allow a sack for the 2d week in a row. We'll hafta see what happens but I think the Jets will continue to improve and advance and the Giants are looking like they may be heading for their traditional holiday season fade away.

The Texans have to play all out because they need to get TJ Yates as comfortable as possible going into the post season. I don't see them letting up especially if a bye is still on the table.

    amen

    fuggedaboud all these scenarios

    1. Scalp the stinking Chefs

    2. Ground the wingless Iggles

    3. Open up a can of whuppass on young Eli and the overhyped Midgets and put them out of their misery

    4. and although, those three probably clinch the 6 seed, go down to Miramar on New Years weekend and complete the coach firing trifecta (Reid, Grumps Coughlin and Pom Poms Tony) by SQUISHING THE GODDAM FISHIES

    New England always scares me.
So do the Ravens and Steelers.
I was concerned when we had to open against Dallas.
If we had to play the Packers or the Saints I'd be scared to death.

Those are good football teams with weapons on either or both sides of the ball.

Of course Miami CAN win that game ... anyone can win any week.
But if we lose that game I'll be shocked. Going into the season, I thought Miami would lose 10 or 11 games, and lose to us twice, and I still think so.

If you're really so concerned about playing a 4 win Dolphin team that we already beat by 18 points, then really ... what's the point? Do you think Steelers and Ravens fans are wringing their hands in worry before Cleveland games? maybe I'm crazy but I bet they go into those games expecting to win.

This has to be the most pessimistic fan base of any good team in the NFL.
Do you guys not see what our record is since Rex took over??
The last 40 times we've taken the field, we're 27-13.
We're a good football team with a good staff ...Have some confidence.
This isn't the 1989 Bruce Coslett regime.

I heard on the radio that the most possible scenario involves the Giants/Jets game, the winner of which will go to the playoffs and the loser goes home for the Christmas Holidays.
Not trying to look ahead, Jets need to take care of business this Sunday for sure, but if the stars align the game on Christmas eve is absolutely huge.

There's a good chance the Giants are done before they face us. Big gut check the next two weeks for them.

This is the Jets path to the playoffs.

You're not likely to see three 11-5 teams vying for the wildcard this year. In order for that to happen three of the Bengals, Raiders, Broncos and Titans need to win out alongside the Jets.

At 10-6 the odds are pretty good we see two in competition with the Jets, but at 11-5 the odds are very low.

I would have said that before this weekend but the Giants pass rush isn't that much better then the Redskins. Although we didn't allow a sack Sanchez got hurried and had to scramble but all in all our O line played a great game. If we get that kind of effort against the Giants Mark will be able to move the ball on that secondary. What worries me about that game is Cromartie on Victor Cruz.

The Bears will be extremely hard-pressed to go into Mile High and win that game.

Caleb Hanie and Marion Barber? It's possible, but even if Tebow has a bad game, the Bears offense looks pitiful right now.

If the Giants lose to the Jets, but win their other 3 games, they win the NFC East. If the Jets win their other 3 and lose to the Giants, it is probably less than 50-50 they get in.

    Good chance? Not really.

The only way they are "done" from the division race is if they lost both games (@ DAL, vs WASH) and Dallas wins both ( vs NYG, vs TB). After watching the Redskins play, I would think the Giants would be favored in that game, at home, by a TD.

    Not really.

    Yes!

The Jets have been very consistent this season. They only have beaten teams with losing records, and they've only lost to teams with winning records, with the lone exception being Dallas in week 1.

If the Jets remain consistent in only beating bad teams, they should go 3-1 over the last 4 games.

Before we get too worried about the dolphins, we should consider that three of their four wins came against losing teams, the one exception being the Raiders who aren't the same raiders (No McFadden, No Cambell) we faced early in the season.

They should win vs the Bears this week. That Bears team is all kinds of banged up.

Tebow could end up with the same problem the Jets have when facing New England...being forced to throw early in the game. If Denver ends up down 21 in the first half and they go pass first, that could be a disaster for Tebow, even against that horrid secondary of the Pats. The same thing happened to Denver against the lions, they found themselves down 21 at halftime and things got ugly because Tebow had to throw 39 times.

Denver should go 3-1 with a probable loss to the pats. Oakland is probably going 2-2 with an outside shot at 1-3.
