I agree I just point out, with much historical perspective, that aside from Pete Lammons & Mickey Shuler, we have not had much success in drafting a tight-end
The problem with Mulligan is that he was the third TE going into the season. Cumberland was number two, and was showing promise, when he tore his achillies vs Oakland( which caused him to drop a TD BTW)
Cumberland's a shitty blocker, even if he were healthy Mulligan would be getting playing time. The problem with Mulligan is that he sucks.
After watching that shit, the team should of held Mulligan down in the locker room after the game and wen't full metal jacket on his ass, except with bricks instead of soap. Fuck him.
Are you serious? Who the F is he to get pissed off?? He should be lucky he's on this roster at all. If it was up to me he would have been out of here a long time ago.
It's hard for me to pay attention to run blocking, but supposedly he's one of the better run blocking TEs in football this year. He IS horrendous at pass protection and gets a pentalty a game, though.
I think Mulligan is just tired of getting chewed out. He's the only one on the team that seems to get blasted by the coaches on the sideline. That being said, he's awful.
The Jets need to focus on this guy's replacement in the middle and later rounds of this upcoming draft.
The guy grabs jerseys and holds on every pass play. That being said --- I have no idea why the CS thinks he's capable of blocking either a pass-rushing OLB or even a DE (see New England game vs Mark Anderson). They put him in situations he has no business being in.
Is Alge Crumpler still available? Seems like he'd be an upgrade at this point? Sorry I hate to be the "sign this beast" guy, but feel like I've seen enough of Mulligan at this point.
We are in desperate need to upgrade the TE position. I can only hope Cumberland comes back healthy but we should also target one in the draft.
Here's a better option for us than Mulligan at blocking Tight End. He at least would know not to move his chair before the snap.
