It's too expensive to cut him and who is going to take on his salary in a trade?
I like our depth at CB. Let it be until 2013.
We have a good nucleus on the defensive line.
We need youth infused into the LB corps and a SS in free agency.

The offense needs the real overhaul.

Sanchez isn't Peyton Brady or Rodgers. And he has less experience. The kid is growing despite having less talent around him than earlier in his career.

Get over it. You named 3 QBs in the world that you said can handle anything the defense gives. One is one hit away from being paraplegic. One has had a solid o-line his entire career and still threw four picks in a game this year. One is going to be league MVP. I don't recall Peyton ever being sacked by a 3 man rush. Mark should have ten seconds to throw against that.

Sanchez isn't the biggest problem. If we had a capable RT and a blocking TE/offensive coordinator worth an NFL contract, I guarantee his numbers would be closer towards the sexiness you expect him to have. And that's with what has a slight disappointment in Greene.

But you said it yourself, we don't have a starter at RT. Which you didn't mention in your original post.

    1. OLB - Athletic that can drop in coverage and rush the passer

    2. S - Athletic and can cover TEs

    3. WR - Someone that can stretch the field
PTurner could develop into a good possession, over the middle type.
Kerley - Should develop into a real good slot WR
    Is Enron Riley anything?

    4. OT - A RT which you can usually get later in the draft (Fabini was a 4th, Kareem McKenzie was a 3rd, Ryan Young was a 7th)

    * If by reports earlier in the week the Jets change up their protections and give some help to the OTs perhaps Hunter's play improves...Perhaps with a year of offseason work Duchasse develops (I feel he was most affected by the lockout). Can Caleb Schauderlaff develop as a replacement for BMoore in a yr or two..

    5. Another OLB...Another athletic OLB...Jets need speed at OLB...and Bad!!!!

    6. TE - Someone to replace Mulligan. Please!!!!

Sorry, I went with 6 (actually 5 positions)....

Who was there with first round value when it was their turn to pick? I don't recall anyone.

Last yrs draft was loaded with DL talent. This yrs is reportedly loaded with OLB talent.

I agree with a lot of what has been said.

    1. RT. I'd do this in free agency rather than the draft. We need a starter, and then Hunter and Turner (who we should be able to re-sign for cheap) provide good depth. I don't think Vlad will ever contribute.

2-3. Safety and safety. I think we need 2 starters. I would try for one in the draft and one in free agency. Smith provides depth.

    4. OL.

    5. WR. I agree that Edwards would be ideal.

I think you guys covered pretty much what the Jets have to do to improve over the off season from a fan's prospective. Here's an opinion from an outsider.

    OFFENSE

    1. Add 2 QUALITY OLmen - one from FA one in the first 2 rounds of the draft.

The Jets not only have to improve their starting OL, but add depth as well. From last season the Pats had to replace BOTH their RG and C. Plus have lost their RT for 5 games and their LT for one. Can you imagine what a disaster the Jets OL would be in if they had to replace all those people.

    2. Add 2 QUALITY WRs - I'd do everything in my power to get Braylon Edwards back. He's having a bad year in SF, so he won't be expensive. Plus pick up a draft pick in the first 3 rounds. (this is going to be a great draft for WRs)

    3. Add 1 Quality blocking TE - Either in the draft or FA

    4. Add a quality back up QB - You really DON'T want to see Mark Brunnell actually get on the field

    DEFENSE

    1. Add a Quality OLB - Thomas is unlikely to come back and Westerman isn't a starter (though a solid back up) I don't know what's available in FA, and drafting one is usually takes 2-3 years to develop even if you are lucky to hit one. There are a LOT more misses at this position than hits. Very few instant impact pass rushers outside the top 10.

    2. Add an DLman in the Draft - At first I would have skipped the DL position after what you picked up in the draft last year, but while Wilkerson has been solid and shows potential upside, the fact Ellis has seen such limited playing time is telling (is he injured?) I'm surprised he isn't seeing any playing time and it MIGHT mean the Jets will have to expend either FA or draft capital to add another DLman

    3. Add a quality S - I think you fans have discussed this enough without my comments

In fairness here is my list of the Pats biggest needs

    OFFENSE

The Pats are pretty well all set in the OL, RB, QB and TE

    1. Branch and Ocho both can be let go after this season. Only one will be back. So the Pats will need at least one new WR. Hopefully someone tall and can stretch the field. Braylon Edwards is someone in FA who wouldn't be expensive and fits the physical bill. Also like I said before this is a very deep draft at WR. The Pats have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds and I'll be surprised if one of them isn't used on a big field stretching WR. They also have to resign Welker. In the unlikelihood they don't then 2 WRs will be needed.

    2. OL - If the Pats don't resign C Dan Koppen then drafting the C of the future might be a possibility. The Pats will also be in the market for a #3 TE. Something they should be able to pick up on the cheap in the draft or FA

    DEFENSE -

S- I'm hoping the Pats will pick up the best FA Safety available at any price and I hope the draft another with one of their 4 pick in the first 2 rounds

CB - They will have Dowling, who was very promising, coming back off IR, in this day and age of the NFL, you can't have enough DBs, so If there is another 6'+ CB the Pats like in the first 2 rounds, I'd grab him.

OLB - The Pats have 2 good outside pass rushers, but they are short term answers - Like every other team in the NFL, Pats fans are hoping that one of their first 4 picks will be used on finding an OUTside pass rusher of the future. Of course they have been hoping for this for the past 10 years.

ILB - The Pats have 2 young ILBs I like a lot (Spikes and Fletcher). Unfortunately both are out right now. But the thing I'd like to see the Pats add this off season would be an ILB who excels in pass coverage. I think more and more teams will be looking for this kind of guy. Gary Guyton has trhe job now, but although he has the speed to do the job, he is sadly lacking in the football instincts to get the job done. I don't know who is out there in FA who might fill this. But I know more and more teams are looking for a guy who can do it.

DL - The Pats have a bunch of young DLmen who seem to be developing well, but I think they need to add another interior DLman who can rush the passer. Mike Wright filled that bill very well, but he's been lost for most of the past 2 seasons with concussion issues and is likely to be done and needs to be replaced.

Get Peyton Manning in here. End of story. If the Colts want to trade him, then we need to jump on the opportunity. Our offense would be hard to stop. And on top of that it would make our defense looks so much better. Instead of playing close games and from behind, the defense would have to defend a lead and I think it would make things so much easier(Rex would be able to blitz more etc.)

how come no one is not mentioning rb?????????? I mean seriously, L.T is near the end, and greene is a true backup.

hillis or forte would be great for us.

NOT going to happen for the following reasons:

    1. There is NO way the Jets can absorb a $20MM+ cap hit. Even if you get rid of Sanchez there is going to be a lot of dead money due to his recent restructures

    2. Even if you managed to squeeze him in, it will effectively put you out of the FA market for the all the additional needs the Jets have to fill

    3. You don't have enough draft picks to give away. How will you fill your MANY other needs if you give that "boatload" of draft picks for Manning

    4. THe Jets would be trading their future for a 36 year old QB who didn't play in 2011, has a congenital neck injury and has only played in ONE offense his entire career.

    5. Why would Manning consent to going to the Jets where he'd have a questionable OL, one viable receiver, a mediocre running game, an aging Defense, and no draft picks and cap room to improve that situation. And while HE wouldn't have to learn the offense, everyone else would. The Redskins and Miami are both more logical.

On the plus side. If you added Manning he could also be the OC

That was pretty knowledgeable posting. Or Jets problems are that much glaring with "YOU CANNOT MISS THIS" sign hanging over the top.

Jets need immediate starter at RT, and replacements (that can wait for a year or two) at both guard positions. Maybe I am too down on Slauson - maybe one will suffice, but I don't bet on that. Hunter needs to be let go. He is a back up material at best, and should be treated as such.

With Holmes on board, 2 quality WRs is more than overkill. Braylon will suffice, with Kerley in the slot. Remember, Jets are not spread-offense team anyway.

Even a Pats fan acknowledges this. Wow.

McElroy is here - he's on IR this year but he will be there next year.

And Jets need a bell cow - that one is missing.

Yep. Jets need down linemen that strike fear into the opposing OL - which Jets didn't have after Kris Jenkins.

#1 A new OC- priority #1. We could solve every other problem and STILL suck. Schotty HAS to go. This is a passing league now and his offensive scheme is inept.

#2 Safeties- I want BOTH replaced. Eric Smith is a total bum and while Leonhard plays hard,he's just too small. I'm tired of him tackling around the ankles like a 3rd grader in Pop Warner.

#3OLB- We're due for a premier pass rusher.

#4 REPLACE WAYNE HUNTER! he's going to get Mark killed.

#5A Backup QB- Brunell is old and washed up. N I'm not sold on McElroy. A lot of people raved about him but all I saw a guy who proved he can take a big shot and keept coming. I like his resiliance but he's a poor man's Pennington. His arm strength is sketchy.

    #6 depth-wr and o-line especially
