I agree with the article I think we are good enough (for the most part) to beat weak/average teams. But we'll struggle against the good/decent teams. We have enough bad teams on our schedule down the stretch to make a run. My only gripe is that Sanchez is not streaky according to Lupica. It's actually schotty holding him back from being a great QB.
I hope we can make the playoffs. From the looks of it, our first round opponent should likely be a reeling Texans team. And if we were to beat them, we would probably being taking a trip to either Pittsburgh or Foxborough. Take it a game at a time, and hope the Bengals crash and burn.
Dorow artical- Jets are out of it. Quote: "GIVE IT UP....WE SUCK THIS YEAR AND DON'T DESERVE TO GET IN. ACCEPT IT, KNOW IT, LIVE IT"
Just making the playoffs is the goal of teams that accept mediocrity. After last season this team was set up perfectly to make the leap from being satisfied just to be there, to winning the whole damn thing. It's true that we certainly still have a fair shot at making it to the playoffs, but we should be past the point now of just being happy with that. As the article stated, this is a team with A LOT of flaws. Even if we do make the playoffs is there anyone who seriously thinks that we are capable this year of beating teams like the Pats, Baltimore, or Pittsburgh on the road? Because if by some chance we do happen to sneak into to postseason than that is exactly the sort of situation we would be looking at. I guess I'm just pissed that, after so much promise generated from the last 2 seasons, we are now once again hoping for other teams to fall apart in December just so that we can possibly have the chance to play in January. After 30 years of watching this team you would think that I'd be somewhat used to it by now...
Do you ever talk football? You sound like some random asshole from NFL.com comment section dropping one liners about what team "sux" or "lol jests." Get out of here man, shit's stupid.
After this past offseason with all the free agent players the JETS had, combined with older guys retiring (or close to it) I don't see how an open minded fan couldn't see a drop off this season for the JETS. That's why last year's loss to PIT in the AFCC stung so bad..... I felt that team had the best shot to make the SB in my lifetime.... and losing to a team that they should've beat felt terrible, knowing alot of guys would be gone. ugggh We've seen the past 2 years, just get in and anything can happen. If that's what it takes, then fine. I'd rather have my team squeak into the playoffs, then make some noise, than be one of the perennial regular season champs that shits the bed in the post season. Although, I'm not as optimistic this time (slim chance they'll get in), anything can happen. :jets:
This, in spades. Is this really what we are back to - just being satisfied with making the playoffs? I thought big mouth Rex was changing all that - we were supposed to now be championship contenders, not just playoff fodder for better teams, like we have been in the past. Maybe some fans are happy with just a post season appearance, but I thought we were past that. I guess not.
Oh, please. Get outta here. It is year fucking three with, Rex. He has taken this team to TWO AFCCG in his first two seasons. That is a very hard to task to do, it is hard to maintain year to year. If we don't get there this year, don't get your panties in a bunch, we are getting there. I would much rather be a contender, a team that makes that push every single year in the playoffs, then a scrubby team that we have known for so many years. Eventually we will break through that wall and the only way you go about doing that is by consistently making the playoffs. This isn't some magic formula or math equation. You can't just get to the AFCCG the previous year and expect to be in the Super Bowl the next. It doesn't work that way.
we have a decent chance to get in. Then we have a chance to make a run. The best team doesnt always win so maybe we get lucky. Who knows
"DON'T DESERVE TO GET IN" They don't go by records or tie-breakers any more? They go by who deserves to be in the playoffs? That's just silliness.
Yeah I am really negative about this season because the offensive line play has been nowhere near what it has been since the past two years. Despite Sanchez being inexperienced, he had the run game and defense to lean on. Now he has no run game and a slightly less effective defense. Sanchez is not good enough to be able to carry the whole team on his shoulders (at least for now). I think we go 8-8/9-7 and rebuild the foundations of this team.
People don't get it about the playoffs. Someone has to be the sixth seed. Out of those it will be between the Jets, Bills, Titans, Bengals, and Denver/Oakland. Do that many people really think that the Titans, Bills or both Denver AND Oakland will end with 10 wins? As long as we beat the Bills tomorrow we, for all intensive purposes have a two game lead on them with 5 to go. So it comes down to us and the Bengals. As long as we only lose one game, and that game is against a NFC opponent and tie the Bengals in record, then we beat them on tie-breakers. Do people enjoy talking about their team not making the playoffs? I really think football fans who don't understand the game that well, say (and sometimes post on this board) as a defense mechanism that we will not make the playoffs. That way they can only feel better if they are wrong. All that proves is they don't understand football and/or mathematics.
