in terms of rooting interest- i hate the pats and would love them to shit themselves on national television but realistically, do we have a shot at the afce title? would it make more sense to root for a kc loss?

the division is out of the question at this point, so as much as we want new england to lose, it's in our (jets) interest for kc to lose since they are in the hunt for a wild card spot.

I was gonna say.. if you want to have any chance of the wild card spot - you better root for the Pats! Another loss for KC equates to better chances for the Jets to see the post-season this year.

No. We control our own destiny against KC, not that I'd be too terribly concerned with them mounting a race for the Wild Card anyway. Tyler Palko isn't going to carry them to the playoffs.

OH how badly I'd want for the Pats to start tanking and the Jets to get on a roll and we do end up taking the division, stranger things have happened

This is true as well - with Cassel out for the season they should not be a threat. The below is from playoffstatus.com and has the Chiefs listed way down there with less than 1% chance. I guess it is safe for you to root for the Chiefs!

Record Divisional Winners Wildcard No Playoffs

    Team Division W L T 1** 2** 3* 4* 5 6 7

    Ravens North 7 3 0 29% 15% 8% 2% 26% 10% 11%

    Patriots East 6 3 0 24% 30% 25% 9% 1% 4% 8%

    Texans South 7 3 0 24% 28% 27% 14% < 1% 1% 5%

    Raiders West 6 4 0 1% 4% 13% 34% 2% 5% 41%

    Steelers North 7 3 0 16% 11% 6% 1% 38% 15% 14%

    Bengals North 6 4 0 6% 5% 2% < 1% 20% 26% 41%

    Broncos West 5 5 0 < 1% 3% 8% 23% 2% 5% 58%

    Jets East 5 5 0 < 1% 1% 2% 2% 5% 15%

Its a win-win. But id much rather have the Pats lose.

And for anyone whos says its wrong to cheer for the Patriots, is dead wrong. Remember 2002? We all were cheering for the Pats.

And honestly depending on the Standings, I hope the Patriots wreck the Broncos. Id rather have to cheer for the Patriots and make the playoffs, then not cheer for them and miss the playoffs. I want that Super Bowl and we have to be in the playoffs to win it.

Too bad Bernard Pollard is a Raven now.

Anyway, Haley is a conniving prick so the Chiefs still have a shot.

We do need KC to lose at least 1 or 2 remaining games, but they play PIT, GB, Jets, OAK and DEN. I don't see them beating GB and PIT, so it's ok for them to beat NE tonight.

Everyone wants to talk about being realistic, to me realisticly at this point in time we have a better shot at winning the division than we do at getting a wild card.

The wild card teams already have better records than the patriots do, a pats loss tonight and we are 1 game away froma tie for 1st place.

Either way the playoffs are a longshot and we need to not only start performing but we need alot of things to go our way, Im taking the easier route of the 2, however unlikely it is, there is less involved in the great patriots collapse of 2011.

1 week at a time Im hoping for a Jets win and a Patriots loss. If the Pats lose tonight, next week sunday we could be playing for a tie for 1st place. (yes i know about tiebreakers, and they dont matter untill the reg season has ended)

Do I expect any of this to actually happen, no of course I dont EXPECT it, it is howver the possibility I am choosing to believe in.

What if it was called, acknowledging that a Patriots win would be benneficial to the Jets, instead of rooting?

As somebody posted above, you werent happy in 2002 when they beat Miami? I was cheering like hell right outside the stadium when they tied it up to go to OT.
