for the past couple of years the special teams has been solid as a rock for this team. the notion that the ST unit would play an active hand in multiple losses would have seemed so far from the truth id laugh in your face. Fumbles, botched punts, missed kicks, --- seriously, what the fuck happened to special teams in the past three weeks that they suck soooo intensely.
No doubt they've had some awful plays the last few games. They're still a top 5 ST unit according to football outsiders stats.
It hasn't been just him, the special teams as a whole the past few games has been putrid which is really disappointing.
The 52 yarder was the only miss that he should be blamed for. 60+ yards is fucking ridiculous. And if he does make it: we're still losing by 1.
i think this is clearly a mangini emphasis thing. mangini wanted great special teams coaches and would give roster spots to guys for their ST ability. same thing is going on with browns right now since mangini (and brad seely currently with 9ers) left. mangini had some major problems, but ST was not one of them
just to name a few the ridiculous punt this game, McKnight fumble on Sunday and the inability to recover the ball, McKnight return fumble tonight. The big returned allowed tonight.
