Most def. need to watch out for Newhouse. He is the type of player you want on your team (works hard, positive, and is a team player). He is def. not a flashy player, one that might go un-noticed, but I hope he keeps catching the eyes of the coaches. Just needs to get his break. (If you look at who he played alongside the last two years, couldn't get any better). (This was publisehd today) The day in camp Thursday, August 03, 2006 BY DAVE HUTCHINSON Star-Ledger Staff PLAYER PROFILE: WR REGGIE NEWHOUSE Free-agent wide receiver Reggie Newhouse is one of those fringe players. He has just enough talent to make an NFL roster but lacks just enough talent to be expendable. A little 'right place, right time' is what he needs. And Newhouse is trying to make his own luck during training camp at Hofstra, where he is turning a few heads after spending the past three seasons with the receiver-rich Arizona Cardinals. He spent part of the 2004 and 2005 seasons on the active roster (six catches for 50 yards) and the 2003 season on the practice squad. "I got an opportunity in Arizona," said Newhouse, who has also played with Cologne of NFL Europe. "I was out there with some great receivers in Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald and Bryant Johnson. I learned a lot of good things out there. "But this is a business and things happen. I'm just fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be here." The 6-1, 198-pound Newhouse has had a solid camp in a crowded field of receivers. He has made at least three over-the-shoulder catches on deep balls and had been solid until yesterday's practice when he dropped a ball and didn't make a play on a difficult but catchable ball in team drills. Newhouse has a tough road ahead of him with the likes of Laveranues Coles, Justin McCareins, Jerricho Cotchery and Tim Dwight safely entrenched on the roster. "I've just been a victim of a lot of circumstances that were out of my control, but all I can do is play football," said Newhouse, who finished his collegiate career with a degree from Baylor in business marketing and as the school's all-time leading receiver (183 receptions). "A lot of people can take it as frustration. I take it as motivation. I'm pretty competitive. I believe in my skills. I'm just focusing on everything I need to do and if I do that, good things will happen."
This is how I see the lineup myself .... J mac is in the doghouse and his career with this franchise is in jeaopardy
Not true. I will agree that last season Wayne and Jerricho should have shared time, but alot of situations call for Wayne's sure-handedness and toughness over the middle. That last catch he made against SD is an example. I doubt Cotchery holds onto that one...
Have you seen Cotchery's ball control? He takes pops and it takes more than one guy to bring him down. Definitely an improvement upon Wayne. Sorry, I'm one for sentimentality until it starts to cloud my vision, as I'm also a realist.
