They got some bad calls especially in the second half but it wasn't the difference in the game. The Chargers had a nice lead in the first half but were COMPLETELY shut down in the second. I don't know how anyone with a sane mind can say the Jets secondary is nothing special. We give Cromartie shit for playing poorly when he can walk on to a third/half of the teams in this league and immediately become their best cornerback. Revis is undebatable and Wilson is outclassing McCourty from that draft class, if all goes well he may pan out to be a top 10 DB.
Ahahahha It would have been better if he said this:
Hey, the Chargers and Ravens are consistent. They are ALWAYS better than the teams that beat them. Though Rex ought to leave the classy comments for others. His comments last week were less than classy (though possibly accurate), and he wasn't pissed off about losing a tough game.
Hey, I'm not saying the Chargers and Randy should be talking shit, I'm saying that stuff comes out after losing a game they thought they should have won. Ten minutes after the game is the best time to get these type of quotes, and the media knows it. From previous experience, the chargers always insist the team that beat them in a big game is NEVER as good as they are.
Let's be a little real. The Revis interception was a tipped pass that Revis picked up. Give credit to Revis for picking it up and almost running it in. That is what good corners do but I don't think he was baiting Rivers. (Similar in my mind to the good plays and lucky plays that went against the Jets in the 1st half) The Wilson pick was nice. A good play by Wilson for sure. As far as the Chargers go, they ALWAYS whine after screwing up (and they screw up pretty consistantly). Sucks to be them. Still all it shows that the mentally tougher team won (i.e. the Jets). The Jets hung in there when it was looking somewhat bleak and the Chargers cracked.
Hummmm, let me see. We spotted SD 14 points on 2 screw-ups by the Jets. Keller's catch and Santonio's TD called back by a holding....but the Charger's beat themselves? WTF? I don't think so. The refs did not help SD for sure, but God knows we had our share of ref screw-ups (read Ravens and Raiders) so welcome to the club. Just like the refs did not cause us to loose those games, neither did they cost SD the game. Nor did SD beat themselves. We flat out outplayed them in the second half.
Wilson made a nice play. Revis baited rivers to what? Throw a pass off his own receivers hands to Revis who was 10 yards away? The pass was to the TE. Revis was covering a WR behind and happened to be in position to catch it and almost take it all the way. Revis is great, but if he set that up he's a genius!
the only questionable call against the Chargers was the pass interference against Holmes on our final drive, but even then the DB was never playing the ball and face guarding, so it wasn't a bad call. I thought the PI on Gates that set up the Chargers last TD was worse. the ball was behind him because Rivers was just trying to get rid of it, so when Gates tried to adjust himself the Jets player ran into him. but Gates was never in a position to catch that ball at all. fuck the Chargers. I'll take a victory over credit any day of the week.
Well, ftr the Jets' last first down before the final FG on Sanchez's run on 3rd down was pretty clearly short of the first down marker, and they called it a first down. But at ineligible lineman downfield call on Mangold was BS, I thought I should mention here.
A couple of those encroachment penalties were bogus. There were at least two bad PI calls that kept drives alive on 3rd down. And Sanchez got the testaverde-esque spot on his 3rd down scramble at the two minute warning. This place would be in an uproar if the Jets lost a close game with those kind of calls going against them. Plus Rivers throwing the ball away to stop the clock on 4th down. How could you not be pissed?
Not sure what the hell Turner was calling on the last play of the game. A couple of in routes? Simms didn't understand it either, considered they may have been trying to setup a hook and ladder. But with guys like Gates and Jackson, throw it into the endzone on the last play. Strange two minute drill by the Chargers.
Wasn't that one of the most bizarre 2min drills you've ever seen? No sense of urgency. Wr's breaking off patterns. Overthrow on 4th down. You'd think the Chargaz were trying to Suck for Luck with that last drive..
Chargers are still bitter from 2009. We may be playing them again this season, so this talk should make things interesting if that happens.
