Wide receiver hurts his knee By: Craig Thomas Date: Aug 2, 2006 The Jets have rarely had tackling drills in training camp in recent years. And the one being conducted on a daily basis in Hempstead this summer, had a negative outcome on Wednesday night. Wide receiver Daunte Ridgeway hurt his right knee when thrown to the ground by safety Kerry Rhodes. He tried to get up but fell back to the ground. It looks like it could be serious. Link
nooooooooooo I was really rooting for Dante. As I alluded to in another thread, he's kind of a friend and a super nice guy, hate for it to be too serious...
I don't mean to be shallow or anything but if he is injured, like out for the year injured, it seems like it might be beneficial to him and the team cause they could just put him on IR and not waste a roster spot or cap room but still keep him around and under the supervision of team doctors? I dunno if it is normal, but I feel like teams can't just cut a guy if he gets injured in camp.
I think you are right. A player cannot be cut if he is injured but instead goes on IR. I'm not a fan of Lelie but , apparently Denver are looking for a 3rd rounder for him and 'teams' have been offering 4th rounders for him. The situation is when not if he is traded with the Bears interested. Maybe to us if we are light on WR??
Hey who's the white guy we had on the squad in TC last year, could catch every ball in TC but once we hit the preseason he couldn't reel one in?
YES! That's what we are missing, Chas Gessner...!!!Bring the lanky waterboy back for one more time to shine in TC, then let him go into pre-season and drop everything under the sun....
Final stats for the BUCS preseason, Chas GESSNER- 40 throws attempted, 40 drops... Burger King is hiring.
Darn... I was taking special note of Ridgeway on Tuesday catching every pass thrown anywhere near him. Really makes the extra effort to get the ball, unlike McCareins who doesn't extend himself worth a sh*t. He was having a great camp... this is not a good thing.
