Because I named the other thread I just created before I found this link, I thought I better make a new thread so people would look and see the link. Whoever has the power can delete that other thread.... Here is the link....from a diff site....dont get mad, people want their info http://www.jetsinsider.net/forums/showthread.php?t=121110
I posted this in the "Wish you were here" thread, but since Jtuds is so freakin impatient.... here's a double post for ya. Just got back from the 5:30 practice. Still pretty freakin hot, but a bit better than the am session. As far as 1028's source, he doesn't want to divulge it, but He's very confident his info is good.... has a track record. Sentimentally, I'd hat e for Martin's career to end that way, but I actually think that it might help this team if he did retire. I've been very impressed with Houston and Washington so far. They look fast, and Houston has pop in his pads. I'm a little less impressed with blaylock, however. He is very good as a backfield reciever, but he gets hesitant hitting the line. When he stops like that, he loses his best weapon... speed into the hole. This morning in that goal line drill, he did a spin move before he even made contact. Needless to say, he actually lost a half a yard. Houston runs at the goal line with authority when he hits the hole. 4th and goal at the one is no time to dance or jiggle through the line. The QB mystery continues. This morning Bollinger took about 80 % of the snaps, Pennington took most of the rest. Ramsey never got into the 11 on 11's. Tonight, it was Clemens getting most of the snaps, and Pennington getting maybe 35%. Bolly was rested after all the work he had this morning. Ramsey had 4 snaps. That was it. Ramsey also continues to be left out of the 3 QB rotation drill, where 3 QB's take a snap, and each throw to a different reciever in different patterns. Ramsey is off playing fake QB with a different group altogether. This is three straight practices now that Ramsey has been excluded. He might have thrown 5 passes all day, but it's obvious there is nothing wrong with his arm. So, that is two days and 3 practices where Ramsey has gotten almost no reps at all. And, he's being left out of the 3 QB drill. Very puzzling. Clemens looks REALLY good for stretches, and just when you think he's the best QB on the team, he does something to remind you, despite how good he looks at times, that he is still a rookie. I think this kid could be the real deal.... the abilty and calm leadership is there. Mangold looks good, but can be manhandled with a bullrush some. Clement is a big, cumbersome slow linemen. I didn't like that signing, I like it less now. There is no way he beats out Jones at RT, who appears to have beefed up some. Blanton looked good in spots, but Moore is struggling on pass protection. Morely looked good at times, but I saw him taking at least two laps tonight. That means he screwed up. Dwight Smith.... this kid has potential. He can make the tough catches, but his hands are a little inconsistant yet. His 40 time may indicate he isn't a true deep threat, but he explodes of the line. He has burst. he looked very good in the bump and run drills, and made some nice grabs. He doesn't always look for the ball early enough, so he has trouble adjusting to the less than perfect pass. I think he could be a starting WR by 2007 or 2008, depending on how fast he develops. Tim Dwight threw a absolute wobbling dead duck on a reverse-flea flicker sort of trick play. Funny thing was the WR still caught the ball in the middle of 3 defenders. (dont remember which WR came down with it). Dwight got chewed out for not throwing it out of bounds. D Smith would be perfect for that play. The problem is, if he rarely plays, the D will be ready if he's lined up at WR. Ah.... what else... Robertson seems to be holding his own at NT, but they were only in shells tonight, so no meaningful comments could be made reasonably. If Pouha really is out for the season, we need another NT for sure. Grady Jackson might be a good one year solution, thinking out loud. Drew Coleman may not be around for long. He bit on a fake by Cotchery, who came back on a short hook. I believe it was Cothery, and Coleman got caught flat footed. Cotch took it to the hose, running righ t by him. He otherwise was playing soft, so that makes it even worse. He is struggling, no doubt. Not much shotgun, not too many two TE sets. Lots of three wide WR, 1 RB sets though. Hartigan is a better runner than reciever, his hands aren't reall good, but he's powerful hitting the line. I like the way he runs with the ball. Askew dogged a route that would have been a TD in drills if he finished. Had a good time spending the day with 227, 1028 and Kurt. We eventually retreated into the AC.... just too freakin hot outside. My new nicknames for these three: Section 227: One ball man. 1028: Black hole. (food reference) Kurt: Pizza killer. (kept talking about pizza all day, stole my local pizzeria menu, always orders double cheese and sausage, eats the whole pie in ten minutes)
Sorry man...but I am impatient...it's a weakness really.....plus its really hot out and I live in an old house without central air......so that doesn't help...but sorry cuz I know you guys are working hard out there in the heat....I will wait from now on...I'll do my best at least...
Hey Thunder, Dont give me that heat crap...no excuses..make sure you have the updates online before the 6pm deadline..or heads will roll around here.
TBird, has Askew been used as a receiver at all? I really liked him as a receiving FB coming out, and hope that Shott can use him that way.
Man, the freakin practice didn't end until about 8:15 or so. walk to the truck, 10 minutes, drive home, 15 minutes, pee, get a beer and I type slow.
I think he means Brad Smith, not Dwight Smith. Good report though. I'm liking our runningback situation.. Maybe we'll have the luxury of taking a receiver or pass rusher if we pick that early next year.
I know..I was doing my best jtuds impersonation. If you didnt post this before 11pm...I was ready to post a "51pa visits Florham Park..but nobody was there!" update.
I guess I am a little impatient....I got in a fight with my girlfriend the other day because she was taking too long to eat her french fries from A&W.... I am serious Rambo....it's been so hot I have spent a total of about 15 minutes outside the last 2 days...and these have been out there getting baked for 5 hours and more.... By the way Thunderbird...Tony has a question, you should answer him, he's important.
WHat about Tui Alailafuela? (I love saying that even though I probably don't say it properly) Isn't he like 350lbs and 6 foot 4? All he'd have to do is fall straight forward and he'd plug the middle...is he noticeable out there at all?
As a reciever from the FB position? Yes. of the FB's out there, he is clearly the best reciever.... but he did dog it on one route, and ONLY because of that he didn't go for a TD. that was in 11 on 11's, and it just looked like he thught he would not get the target. He had his man beat if he ran full sped through he whole pattern, but since he slacked, it was overthrown. 227 said the same thing, we agreed. I've seen the FB get a lot of targets in these sessions. Tutt isn't that good a reciever, Hartigan isn't either, but that kid can hit the line and break tackles like no one else on the team. I think Hartigan is also a pretty good blocking FB.... he's a power guy, he bowls people over. So, yeah, I think Askew will be a Sowell type in this offense. I could see him with 40 to as much as 60 catches, on the outside. Hartigan will push him in the traditional blocking FB role, but Askew is still a recieving weapon for sure. Yeah.... Brad.... I was pretty tired from defending my remaining refridgerated goods from Kurt and 1028. I coulda used Fergy's wing span today. i felt like an offensive NT, taking on two D linemen after food deprivation. PS: Tony posted when I did, so i didn't see his Q. And Jtuds.... no I didn't notice that lineman at all.... nota smidge. maybe Kurt will have something on him, but he doesn't have a puter with him..... it might be a few days.
Jtuds, You really need to stop cluttering the board with these report requests from members of this board in the form of threads. If people have reports, they're not shy to volunteer them to the forum at their own will. I've filed two reports, and haven't needed anyone to tell me to do so. Same goes for T-bird, etc.... Any additional threads in excess similar to what I'm talking about will be locked.
Man I know. I didn't look in the right place so I created one to ask thinking the people that were there maybe needed a little prodding to post their reports. And by the way, I have been on the boards very frequently in the last few days, as I assume you have too, and have noticed many created threads that have cluttered up the board. I posted 2 today asking for info, and I don't think I made any yesterday. As I said earlier in this thread I will be patient, but also for the last 3 practices I have found reports elsewhere before I found them here, so I created threads with links for the many other members that surely were as anxious for information as I am. If I am being chastised for what you, a moderator deems unnecessary then I will refrain, but I encourage you to look at other members who are posting multiple threads in succession. Today there was someone who started about 6.
Don't worry. It's not a big deal. I know the person you are referring too, but none of them were about this. There is nothing wrong with starting unique threads about the Jets in this forum. My last line wasn't in reference to you, it was a general statement which I would apply universally. Great report T-bird. I'm glad I could stay in tune even when I'm not at practice. Sounded like you guys had a heck of a time as well
