This kid was a great runner for the Naval Academy, so I'd expect him to catch on somewhere as a backup RB or FB, but people are missing out on the real story here.

He is being heralded as a real Patriot and American all while trying to escape his duty and responsibility. He applied for leave to remain with the New England Patriots and appealling its denial. The kid is the opposite of a Patriot and American if he is attempting to skip out on his obligation to his country.

The headline is completely misleading from the article and it seems like a majority of people are just reading the headline skipping the article, then praising this kid as a war hero.

Unlike the NFL the Military is making him fulfill the contract he signed willingly. The NFL should take a lesson from this.

He went to a military academy. He graduated in 2008 and has served two years active duty already.

Most Americans wouldn't dream of doing any such thing.

Belichick likes Annapolis grads due to the family history, and often has some of these guys around. Yeatman who was in camp also had Annapolis ties.

No precedence set. The article does not explain the circumstances of the other players.

Caleb Campbell's is well documented on Wikipedia (unfortunately, the referenced links no longer work):

    [rule dropped in 2008]

Not a scumbag. Just reporting facts, which readers like you tend to miss allowing "journalists" to paint any picture they wish.
