Okay I'm glad somebody else actually watched. Rex and the timeout did not impact the game whatsoever. The best point they made-where's Joe McKnight at RB? It's time to get him some reps, I've been saying this for 2 weeks now and to add to that, Bilal Powell ran hard in the preseason, our running game cant get any worse why not? The worst point they made was at the end saying that in theory we should pick apart the Pats pass defense but do not believe we have the QB to do it right now. U serious? Mark just had a career high in passing yards last week and tonight he didnt even have time to run for his life. I've criticized Mark before, but aside from the disgusting pick he threw (which was easily the dagger imo) it was on the O-line tonight.
Our problems begin (but dont end with the OL - until that is playing at even a mediocre level we have no idea what we have in terms of an offense as their shitty play is killing this team - those guys are lucky their pay is not perofrmance based.
Said this in the draft forums: The front office is completely negligent allowing the coaching staff to lead them to believe they had the luxury to expend draft picks on players who wouldn't contribute immediately. Ducasse, Ellis, Powell... This team needed LBs and it's even more clear now, OL. Woody retires and the whole line falls apart?
Here's a big "Go Fuck Yourself" to all of the Ducasse defenders. "Oh, he's a project," "give him some time," yada yada yada. The guy completely sucks and looks as though he never played the game.
Ray Lucas is a fan, nothing more really...he's never been a coach, wasn't a particularly good player so you can't take his observations much more seriously than you do any random board poster here. And Adam Schein just lives to rip people. I hate the SNY postgame sometimes, at least if they're going to criticize the team, be on the mark of what you're criticizing. Don't just sound like you're ranting uncontrollably like callers on WFAN (or some of the hosts). How was it worse? The offensive line's been s*** without him. Just because he's even stinkier s***, doesn't mean the actual guys who are starting on the line shouldn't take the lion's share of accountability. The problem with Ducasse is because of him, you have no depth when the starters aren't getting it done. But ripping him ignores the fact that THE ACTUAL STARTERS AREN'T GETTING IT DONE!
this, sort of.... with the standard 7 picks a year a team can "miss" more often than not. With the jets, however, the combination of missing on day 1 AND having less than 7 picks a year can wreak havoc come injury time.
Disagree. That timeout wasn't going to help us the way we were playing at that time. Carey gave a pitiful recap of his review decision, then completely ignored Rex when he was calling for a better explanation. It was hot-headed yes, but I felt it got our guys amped (at least, for a few minutes) and we needed SOMETHING He has all the potential in the world, but that doesn't change the fact that AT THIS MOMENT, a literal pile of horseshit would be a better option
On the time out call... I remember when Jimmie Johnson was coaching for Miami, and toward the end of his time there it seemed like every game he's go into pretty long stretches where he'd be spending most of his time, giving most of his focus, to yelling at the officials. Not only did it not do him any good with the officials, I got the feeling it was giving exactly the wrong impression to the players. It put the focus on hoping to get better calls rather than playing better as a team. It gave the impression that the HC was working on the officials rather than coaching his team. I don't see how Ryan's using the time out to "amp" the players had any positive effect. And Ducasse sucks, and Sanchez was the person most responsible for that loss. I know some posters here are total homers who don't like to hear anything bad said about the Jets. Then don't watch the SNY post game show after a loss, because they are not total homers.
Felt bad for Mark last night, but can he burn a team blitzing him ONCE? One time? Never seems to happen, (not just last night) which is curious since he practices against a blitzing defense all the time.
This. Holy shit this! Anyone who thinks anything they said on the postgame last night was wrong needs to check their homerism at the door. Every single thing said by that team last night was on the money. Your green colored glasses are getting in the way of you people seeing that. Even Klecko had problems with every facet of the game last night. Ray was as shocked as me to see him give low grades. The Jets suck. You don't have to accept that, but it is what it is.
They will think differently once they taste a few licks from Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata from behind.
Even when he did pass he looked like crap. The league has caught up to Sanchize and realize if they stack the line stop our run and make him throw he will eventually implode. Im sure there will be some other excuse for sanchez once Mangold comes back this week as well.
That was a hell of a defense he faced last night but yeah, I'm afraid that the rest of the league is watching this crap and learning quickly if you pressure him, he'll eventually start to cave (and cave big). It was starting to look like the old Chad Pennington Chinese Firedrills again.
This is actually a good point. Sanchez's accuracy even when he has enough time to throw is poor. That's allowing even Burress and Holmes in single-coverage to be unable to catch balls. That makes the lives of the guys up front a lot easier protecting against the run or blitzing the pass.
Everything you need to know about this game is summed up by the fact that the Jets had to start an undrafted rookie free agent at center against Haloti Ngata & co. during a road game. You could have had Joe Montana under center with Johnny Unitas and Peyton Manning on the bench and I think it would have made very little difference. Centers are even more important on the road. I don't really think you can overstate the impact of that one injury.
Your right the Ravens Defense is as good as it gets and the whole team played like crap but I believe the blueprint is out and other teams are going to follow it going forward. Next week will be a big game for Sanchez because if he stinks it up again I fear his WR corps will start to mutiny on him.
I think it says something about Vlad that an undrafted FA (who is only playing because Vlad got Turner hurt in the first place) Is better at his position (center) than Vlad is at the position he was drafted to play. And that guy had a bad day! SNY was right Sanchez had a horrible game. but unlike them, I can understand it somewhat because he was under so much pressure all day. SNY should have called out the vets who are still on the o-line and Sanchez. Those vets on the line need to figure out how to work with these subs.
Lack of accuracy is concededly hard to isolate from some of what else is going on, but I also think there have been too many cases of poorly thrown balls by Sanchez. The Jets are not making opponents pay for bringing their D up.
