Champ...you are getting farther and farther from any identifiable sense of logic. Your opinion on individual players is your own, and no one can fault you for that (though they may disagree,) but your lack-of any intelligent statement in your last few posts is flabbergasting. 4.3 yards per play is an AVERAGE!!!! To say that an offense necessarily gains that per play is assinine, and akin to saying that a baseball player who hits .333 is guaranteed to get a hit in every third at bat.
Well, it is a FO stat from their game charting system. Now, that 4.3 number is the average yards gained by the offense on plays where Vilma made a tackle, forced a fumble, intercepted a pass, etc. That doesn't cover all the plays Vilma was on the field and was not directly involved in the end result of the play. That 4.3 number in comparison to other inside linebackers of 2005 seems to put Vilma somewhere in the middle, maybe even above the average ILB number.
well, champ, to add 2 more to the list of good players, the signing of Kimo and Tim Dwight brings in two players who were on championship teams: the Steelers and the Pats. cheers
The fact that you gave me those players is good enough for me. Once again..and I thought I cleared this up on my last post.... anti jet rhetoric was the phrase I used...not claiming that you hated the team...trying to get a reaction more than truly believing what your saying was my point. You have made comments that certain players (Barton, Hobson, Miller, Strait, Reed) if ever cut by the Jets would never be picked up by another NFL team...to me..those are comments by someone that truly doesnt believe what they are saying...but is trying to make a point so over the top just to get a reaction...because any football fan would never believe it. With that said...you gave a couple names..thats good enough for me...today.
Yes IMHO those are just hanger oners that offer another team nothing. If they can not get glory on such a crumby team as ours then why would another team wish to pick up a medicore or less then medicore player? I really truly think you have to make yourself a assessment rating system for each player cause it sounds like you just shoot from the hip without ever do a overall evulation of the player. ONE MORE time so it is crystal clear to you & others once we get quality players who can play the game & make us winners I will certainly say so. Is that clear from your side?
You know it truly amazes me how some of us try everything possible to change a FACT so it favors whomever they decided to defend.
You know I saw it since I already commented on your post. Did you then see this post by Cakes explaining the 4.3 yards per play and where Vilma stand? Oh wait, you had to since you quoted it. You are guilty of doing what you are complaining about.
The 4.3 yfs quote is from Cakes original post not the 2nd one U quoted. Get smart why waste yours & everybody elses time with your silliness?
Which part of this dont you understand? or this? and this? It is you that should stop wasting others time by using only a small piece of information when all of the info gives a clearer picture against your position.
Well, I don't quite follow exactly what you two are arguing here of late. The 4.3 number says that statistically, Vilma was at worst average and at best pretty good in 2005. He did not receive a single vote on the AP All-Pro list. I didn't find Vilma to be good last year. I thought he was just okay. I think it was sort of a sophomore slump. I expect him to play much better in 2006. That 4.3 number also gets affected by the other 21 players on the field when Vilma was making those 179 plays. That's where scouting comes into play. I believe scouts would find that Vilma is at worst slightly better than average and at best one of the top 5 or 6 inside linebackers in the league.
