Yep.. this is not an overreaction based on one game or something like that and the anti-Shotty fans are just crazy and taking things out of context. This has been a continuous problem for YEARS now. And now Shotty is running out of excuses. He doesn't have a new QB, or a rookie QB, he has a lot of talent on offense, and he's still failing. Now it's at the point TWO veteran leaders on the offense, who know a thing or two about success in the NFL, are publicly calling out the offensive game plan and play calling. How is that in any way, shape, or form not an indictment on the offensive coordinator and his subpar performance?
players have friends on different teams, that were likely teammates at one point ... and the odds of us playing the cowboys, jags or raiders again this year are pretty slim
What's funny is the Shotty supporters are even more outrageous than the haters at this point. He'll end up calling a good game against Baltimore and everyone will be like "See! I told you so! Shotty is great!" Nevermind all the evidence that has piled up over 5+ years now to the contrary.
The question is: Why go to the fucking media with this? If you are told good information like this...use it against the opponent .
I hate that the majority of the time I know what the Jets are running before they snap the ball. Schottenheimer is a clown and the sooner the organization lets Rex fire his ass the better.
I think people can't read then see mods sensationalizing things I don't post and run w/ it. One question? When we ran the ball well the last 2 years(including leading the league in '09) how come Brian didn't get any credit for that but we struggle and it's all his fault? Just wondering how that works. AGAIN, I am not saying he doesn't deserve a good chunk of the blame I just want to know how he gets blames when things don't go well but no credit when they do. Also, just so we all know our offense is averaging 25 PPG.
I think that people are overreacting to this a little bit. For the past two years, it was painfully obvious when the Jets were going to run the ball and where they were going to go with it. It didn't matter, because the blockers did their jobs. Hell Curtis Martin made a living running three different plays (following the fullback through the A gap, following a pulling guard off tackle, and toss sweeping to the left.) Everybody knew what was coming, but it was well blocked and well run, so it worked. It's always nice to catch the defense off guard, but execution is always going to be the most important thing. Right now the O-Line and the running backs just aren't doing their jobs, and no amount of creative playcalling is going to change that.
what more proof do we need that schotty is not good... as far as i see it this year is his last schott (no pon intended)... when verteran players are calling him out u know there frustrated with him (just like we are)... the reason why we had such a great rushing offense the past 2 years was because our o-line was BEASTING it.. not him... it doesnt take as much brain power to design some power running plays as it does to design plays for your WRs... if he cant manage to target holmes and plax more this guy has got to go... i dont expect the running game to pick up the pace much this week being that mangold still wont go probably and were playing the ravens... i do think as the year goes forward we will have more success in that area... but right now you have a capable QB, 3 reliable receivers, LT coming out of the backfield and a TE thats playing like an all-pro... GET THE BALL TO YOUR PLAYMAKERS ON A REGULAR BASIS! any good coordinator would kill to have these weapons to choose from...
LT, Mason, Holmes, Burress. All 4 have alluded to the scheme being too predictable or Schotty being outcoached. A mangini coach being too predictable. What else is new?
"By Rich Cimini" .... sums up the entire article. There's already two or three threads on the main boards with posters calling out this hack for quoting people out of context and putting up bogus stats to generate headlines.
Then how about the receivers saying that schotty wasnt prepared for defenses changing looks? 4 veterans have come about criticizing the offense and the scheme.
Receivers dissing Schotty from a non-Cimini source is something to consider. However, Cimini has a rep for making up shit & shouldn't be trusted as an "inside source" when talking about player/coaches. He's reaching Bleacher Report status.
You know how you take care of this problem? Pass heavy. And then run...pretty simple. The pass opens everything up.
Regardless of who's responsible, this needs to be fixed. This is high school shit! Make the fuckin adjustment!!!!
Because you think that telling your own OC will just get the matter swept under the rug because he's set in his ways and likes to do what he wants to do whether it is effective or not? Seriously, if opposing defenses can figure out if the Jets are in a run or not based on where the backs line up then something is really wrong with the Jet's coaches on that side of the ball. We have a fair amount of evidence at this point that Schotty is not performing at a high level. How can we even begin to evaluate Mark Sanchez as a QB when things like this keep popping up? If people know when the Jets are calling a run, well guess what that also means?
For the same reason Holmes has called out Schotty twice and retweeted shit about Sanchez needing to get him the ball. The squeaky wheel gets the attention. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Plax joins in too. LT and Holmes have won MVP's, TD titles and Superbowls, they know a good offensive coordinator when they see one. That means they know a BAD one when they see one. Shit, any fan with half a brain can see Schotty is terrible.
