He had been a part of a few playoff wisn in Miami but he never got close to a conf title game as they were humiliated each time in the div rd.
that quote was altered actually. this is the original quote "I saw a kid in New York, Mark Sanchez, that is young, I don't think he's as talented as Chad Henne, physically. But he has that demeanor, he has that little swagger, he understands the position that he's in, and he has a good team around him." i'm all for hating Jason taylor when he deserves it, but the media really pisses me off when they flat out cut off parts of sentences to make headlines. it's still shady when they take one isolated sentence and make a headline out of it without context, but it's inexcusable for them to take only part of a sentence and use that as the quote.
Wow! WTF is wrong with the media man?! I still think he is a bonehead, but that changes the quote entirely. That's ridiculous.
Original quote altered or not, Jason Taylor's done more tip-toeing in the media than he did on Dancing With The Stars. Er, uh, I swear I've never seen a DWTS episode in my life. Um... *cough*
I'm not sure exactly how good Sanchez is yet. But one way or another he's better than Henne. Henne sucks.
I have no problem with the quote. He has to give a nod to his teammate. If you read between the lines, it sounds like he'd take Mark over Henne any day of the week.
This is actually an accurate assessment if you consider things like arm strength and height to be talent. Henne was one of the top high school QB prospects in the nation. He joined Michigan and started as a freshman, an unheard of thing in that venerable program. I definitely would have been happy if the Jets found a way to get him in the draft. They chose to take Dustin Keller instead, a choice I'm also fairly happy with. The difference between Sanchez and Henne has been opportunity. Sanchez had to sit at USC for three years and wait for a chance to play, which he capitalized on. Henne got handed the reins early at Michigan and never fully took advantage of that. Sanchez got handed a golden opportunity with the Jets and he has gotten to the brink of success twice and is looking to push over the top this year. Henne had to sit behind Chad in 2008 and then Parcells left town and so the continuity has not been there for him. There's no question in my mind that Sanchez is the better of the two QB's. He may well not be the most talented of the two though.
I guess it depends on what kind of talent, but going by the actual quote, I don't disagree with the physical talent. Sanchez looks more like a JCPenney clothing model than a pro athlete, I don't care how big his hands are. Taylor was just trying to stick up for the guy they have under center. Wouldn't it be nice to live like a sport writer? Just nitpick small sections of text and put together a puzzle of sentence fragments to change the meaning of any body of text. For instance, check out this quote I took from an interview with Michael David Smith in 2007: http://larrybrownsports.com/interviews/interview-with-michael-david-smith/1019
