I know we have had only a sample size of what our running game is capable of with the O-line issues distorting what their potential is. It just seems like we keep waiting and waiting for Shonn to step into a full time role with a 80/20 or 70/30 split but he just can't seem to ever produce as well as LT.
No. LT is our best option on 3rd down and maybe to spell the other guys occasionally on the other downs. He's going to break down if he's over-used. I'd much rather have an A+ guy on third down than a B- guy across the board right now.
Greene was running great in the second quarter, racking up nice chunks of yardage. Then we stalled in the red zone and fell apart on D. Once we got behind, it was the LT show. LT's numbers primarily came from one long catch and run. It was a great individual effort, but I don't think he significantly outplayed Greene over the course of the game.
No, Greene is still our best option at RB. LT is a good on 3rd downs, and is great in the passing game. Greene is not the problem. Our OL is the problem. Woody's departure is hurting more than expected as Hunter is shitting bricks.
LT fits the role of a 3rd down back perfectly and is great at that, as a running back carrying a significant amount of the load he won't produce like he is now. On the other hand, greene has been really disappointing and I know that the shitty o line play is probably 60% of the blame, but he still hasnt been what expected. Im not sure if he is the long term answer right now... And that fumble could have lost the game even earlier
I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt but Greene IMO is not an every down back. Hopefully either McKnight develops into one or we get one via free agency. We're forcing him into a role I don't think he's comfortable playing. But I hope I'm wrong.
My thoughts exactly, Greene doesn't have anywhere near the vision LT does so unles theres a huge hole he just runs into the back someone.
LT is in the twilight of his career, he wouldn't last half a season if he was asked to carry the load. His current role with the team is perfect for him.
LT is our best option at doing exactly what he has been doing through 3 weeks. Even with all of the frustrating Schittenheimer play calling and game planning, Schitty is handling the RB substitution situation perfectly. I still put the blame for our serious ground game issues 90% on the o-line.
LT probably still has the most football talent but his reduced role is suiting him well and should keep him producing at this level all year instead of blowing his load 6 games into the season.
Greene is the better RB but LT is the better current option. Shonn is a between the tackles runner. LT is better suited on these short screens/pitches and towards the outside. The way the OL has been Greene can't be too effective.
I voted LT, but only because I won't vote for Greene. LT isn't an every down back, but Greene is just Thomas Jones Jr. At the first contact point, Greene is down. That's not acceptable. The answer is that neither is the best option, and I'd like to see if McKnight or Powell can do anything with an opportunity.
That's because the first contact point has been a defensive lineman, because the OL is struggling to get him past that. None of our RBs can succeed under those circumstances.
Am i the only one who thought that most of the time we ran outside, greene or LT had big gains but up the middle the Raider D-line manhandled our line? You guys are nuts for giving up on greene after three games
Totally agree. Seems to be a perfect spot for him, at this stage. And agree about McKnight... Rotate him in. Wanted to see him yesterday. They needed fresh legs late in that game, especially considering that checking down was Sanchez's main option... McKnight should have had 3 of Greene's 7 catches.
