Before the flaming starts I know there are ALOT of 'ifs' in this equation, however , after looking at the schedule I dont think that we will be the 2-3 win team that (most) everyone seems to think. 1 No QB = No Chance if Clemmins or Brooks end up being the starting QB then its over so lets say Chad or Ramsey are the starter, and they can preform average (No fumbled snaps, no tripping over your own feet ect) 2 Maybe this O-line just Clicks and the work well together from day 1, give decent protection and give the QB a reasonable chance to make a play. Kenndals a vet, does a great job knows how to play center 3 I still say that C Martin has the will and ablity to have close to 1000 yds 4 All this talk about Mangini being this defensive genius if hes half as good as critics think then our D should keep us in games look at the schedule: I feel we have a chance to win vs. Tenn Detroit Cleveland Houston Green Bay Minnesota Oakland Thats 7 Beat Buffalo at Home thats 8 There always a chance of splitting with the fins 9 Thats it!!!
throw in a couple upsets we're looking at the playoffs.....i mean look, we are more a question mark team i'd say....we have the potential to be a playoff team, not likely, but it's better than having basically no shot, 49ers come to mind here i do not expect a playoff berth, but i really think that we are looking at a 7-9,8-8, 9-7 season, but 3-13 would not suprise me if many of our ?'s make a turn for the worst
The Jets could go 8-8 if all the breaks fall their way, but the likelihood of that happening is remote. When was the last time in the NFL that everything went right for a certain team, especially the Jets??? Lets think about reality.
I have to agree with you here. Given our easy schedule, if a couple of bumps go our way, there is no reason to believe we can't be a .500 team. Sure we have more question marks than other teams, but don't look past our solid players at a few key positions and a winning attitude being instilled by Mangini.
This team definitely has possibilities...Mangini took our strengths from last year and built on them. He added solid depth so if one of our starters go down a quality backup will be in place. Sure some of our positions could use some upgrading, but that will be for next year. Wild Card is not out of the picture, neither is winning the AFC East.
i respect that opinion as it is the most common one, but i disagree....if every question this team has is answered in a good way AND all the breaks in games fall our way, we will be looking at 12-4, 13-3 and a first round bye.....that is if pennington is back to form, our d is lights out, playmakers emerge from our group of wrs te and rbs....the line gels and plays well, d rob holds up the nt spot, the list goes on and on i really believe if we get consistent qb play, we are a mediocre, hoovering around .500 team if not, well, it's hard to win with bad qb play, almost impossible actually
It's great to have a posivie outlook but each team in our division got better, maybe with the exception of NE and we still have showed that we can beat them over the last 3 years. Our QB's are average at best and our WR/TE's and RB's are below NFL average at best. It is going to be tough for this team to score points this year, no matter who is throwing the rock. Not to mention we have 2 rookies one the O line. Dreaming is one thing, reality is another. This team is being built for 2007 an beyond. 5-11 would be huge this season.
The Truth I'm telling you fella's Coach Mangini will get every last bit out of these guys, this guy is not BSing around here, do the job, contribute or get out...simple and we will see who can handle Mangini-World and who can't and we eventually have a team full of Cans..We finally got the right guy for the Jets, New York style..get it done or get out...OH YEAH
Well, I said this in another thread but it applies here. I strongly believe on any given Sunday any team can beat any team. We're going to win games that we should not win and we're going to lose games that we should not lose. Consistency is the key and Mangini is trying to focus our players on that.
Come on brother keep it on the positive tip, you got a coach who will not screw up clock managewment, who makes evey player accountable and has 3 super bowl rings...keep the faith brother...keep the faith!!
Vegas has us as high favorites to win more than 6 games this year. So 7-9 or 8-8 isnt that far of a reach. How were the Bears supposed to do last year? For all you that think we are gonna win 3-4 games, I guess there is some money to be made
Im not saying playoffs and im sure Pennington is NOT the future but I think we are as good if not better than Buffalo, Tenn, Detroit, Cleveland, Houston, Green Bay, Minnesota, and Oakland And I think the Coaching staff is going to get the best out of each and every player so expect to see improvement from Jolley Baker Miller Cotchery So all is not lost
The Bears were in the weakest division in football bar none, not in the same division with the Patriots, and arguably the most improved and ready to make The Leap, if I can shamelessly steal a Bill Simmons term, team in football, the dolphins (I just nearly had an aneurysm simply from writing some form of praise about the dolphins.)
Throw a couple of those upsets back the other way in favor of the 7 teams listed and your looking at 3-13.
My point being that, before the season started how were the bears supposed to fair? Did anyone know that the division was the weakest in Football before the season started? All I know is if Mr. Brady gets hurt this preseason then the division could be up for grabs, just like NFC north last year, and I am not sold on the Dolphins...
