The O doesn't need more skill players. 24 points with a banged up O-Line & Sanchez struggling to find time to throw. This Offense needs lineman.
Pass rushing LB'rs is whats needed. No constant pressure at all today. The Jets LB's are too damn slow
OLine help needed badly. Baxter filled in well for Mangold but he's not as good and Hunter has been disappointing so far. OLine needs more time to gel. Raiders front 4 is sick. I can't beleive how they manhandled our OLine. Sad that the last 2 years was the strength of this team. Jets D was ripped today too.
We have to protect our quarterback better and he still has to become a more accurate passer, imo. We have plenty of weapons for Sanchez, though.
The only thing I'll say is that I thought Cromartie got hosed on a few of those calls today. However, I'm still not going to make excuses because we were up ten in the 2nd quarter and completely imploded.
We can have the 10 best WR's in the league and it won't matter if we keep refusing to throw the ball downfield. Why do you think Oakland was able to wreak havoc on the DL? Because there was almost no threat of Schotty daring to call a downfield pass play.
Sanchez threw for 369 yards and the team put 24 points on the board and was inches away from 31. If you think that a lack of WRs cost the Jets this game, I don't know what you were watching. A Jets team built on defense gave up 34 points and 234 yards rushing today, the OL was pushed around and Sanchez was beat up again. That is your story - that and awful play calling a flag happy officials crew. Skill positions are the least of the Jets worries right now.
So our QB is in his 3rd year, and the training wheels come off - so what do we do? Replace every wide receiver except one. In a season with no training camp.
Our pass-defense wasn't the issue today. We didn't contain Mcfadden and Cromartie got hosed on some extremely tight defensive-holding/PI calls.
to the original point. We don't need more receivers. We just need our guys to show up. Holmes in particular. He has been not playing well at all so far. Outside of his TD catch (great grab) he has done very little to help us. The only other catch of meaning I can remember is his grab in the dallas game where Plax destroyed Jenkins. Holmes has 10 catches in 3 games. Thats what we are paying $50 million dollars for? Why is he not getting the ball, because he can't get separation or is the offense being called for other guys right now? The key to righting the ship on offense is to get Holmes the ball in space and the let the man be the electrifying playmaker he was last year. Let him be the guy who won us 4 games, and the guy we decided was worth $50 million dollars.
