DAMN RIGHT WE WILL WIN THE SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR, AND I DONT CARE WHAT ALL THE BUC FANS AND DARKSIDER JETS FANS IN THE WORLD SAY!
This is about right. Since 2000, 10 teams have finished a season 4-12; the number of wins the following season ranged from 5 to 12, with an average of 6.9 and a median of 6. However, 8 of the 10 won 5, 6, or 7 games the following season, so something like a 6-10 record is the most likely possibility, and winning either 1 or 11 is pretty unlikely. Interestingly, there's much more variability after a 5 win season. The average (7.6 wins) and median (7) number of wins the next season is right in line with the numbers for teams that won four games (each about 1 win higher), but 4 of the 17 teams won only 4 games after winning 5, while 5 of 17 won at least 11 after winning 5. Can't imagine why that would mean anything, but it's striking nonetheless.
dammit....why couldn't chrebet hold on to the ball at the end of the jax game, or why didn't bolly come through at the end against sd.....we needed that extra win to have a much better shot at winning atleast 11 games this year j/k, it's a pretty odd stat
Special Olympics? Am I in the BS Forum? A better analogy for watching a rebuilding time is like watching a child grow up. We get to see a new young core endure their growing pains. Hopefully they show some early signs of maturity that translate into more wins. But if not you give them the benefit of the doubt as long as steady progress is made.
Hey man, I know you're trying to be helpful and contribute, but the people who refuse to be realistic about their expectations this coming year have been told dozens of times already, and I doubt a Bucs fan is suddenly going to reveal any startling revelations on the situation for them.
With our relatively easy schedule this year, there is no reason why a .500 season is not possible. Rebuilding in the NFL has become a much quicker process if done correctly. I think it's completely feasible for us to surprise a couple of teams this season and win 7 or 8 games.
Its not a question of low road or underachieving. Take a deep breath and relax and realize that this is in fact a rebuilding year. Now that being said, it does not mean that we will suck, and it does not mean that we're "sitting back". It just means that we brought about many new changes, and it may take a while for everyone around them to adapt to the changes. Ignorance (not directed at you) is thinking that we are picking up where we left off. Beliving that nothing changed, and we're just going to keep moving ahead. Reality is realizing that we made more changes to our team and personel in the offseason than virtually any other NFL team. That my friend, is called a rebuilding year. It's what it is. It's not a fake term that someone decided to make up in the offseason so we feel better about outselves. It's a real term for a real situation. It's a fact, and you need to realize that. Bottom line: Are we in a rebuilding year? YES Does that mean we're going to suck???? NO. It means it might take the team a while to adapt to the changes made around them. realize the difference.
Yeah, but I have no doubt many of these posters would be the "You can't do anything right! Are you stupid? What's wrong with you! Now go back and do it again. We're winning this even if I have to work you all night!" type parents.
