First, we had a problem with this team only playing 30mins a game. Usually that was the 2ns and 4th qtrs. Now? they play 3qtrs a game but its the 2nd, 3rd and 4th qtrs. It sure would be nice to see a complete game out of this team just once..
As long as we win, I could careless how many td's we score in the first quarter. With that being said, I definitely wouldnt mind if the offense came out hot and score a td or two.
I think it's better if we let the other team take an early lead cuz they will be thinking 'this is easy, we got this' and then they won't try as hard and then we surprise them and come back and win the game and the other team will think 'fuck, we should have tried harder', and by then it'll be 2 late because we already just won the game and the time ran out.
Didnt brad smith return a kickoff in the first quarter against the steelers? Its not an offensive td but still a td.
this is a pretty big reason imo. We usually end up with 1 possession in the first period, maybe 1.5 as a result of this. where 1.5 indicates we have the ball when the 1st quarter ends, for those unawares.... What this means, is we fucking suck at moving the ball on the first drive of the game, while the defense usually comes out of the gate giving up a first down or two before getting the stop. That said, we usually are moving the ball before the middle of the second quarter and like others have said, the final score is all that matters. Sure an early lead would be great, but the final score is all that matters.
Not scoring early has the undesirable effect of letting an inferior team hang in the game longer than they should. The Jets have been winning in general without scoring early, but I wonder if it's holding them back from getting to the next level - winning the division, Superbowl etc.
so if we put one up in the 1st last sunday this thread doesnt exist? how about teams that start fast and disappear in the 2nd half.
i think we need to score more td's regardless of the qtr. so scoring more td's would make us better? i would never have thought that. im not trying to be a prick, i understand what you mean. but its not like were a magic team that dominates for every 3 qtrs. point in case we need to improve the offense itself, not just the 1st qtr output
That's what you get when your OC is a knucklehead. Living off of daddys name sadly. Quite possibly the worst goaline play calling I've ever seen in the playoffs last year. Thankfully he'll be unemployed if the season doesn't end in a Superbowl appearance.
Stupid complaint. Zero TD in the 4th quarter would be reason to worry. Has it been 16 weeks since the Jets won a game?! This offense consistently gets it done when the game is on the line. You're hoping for an offense that starts strong and is inconsistent finishing games just like Romo's Cowboys ... or do you think the Jets Offense are capable of scoring big points every quarter just like Pats/Colts(with Manning)?
And the Jets record in those 16 weeks is 12 and fucking 4. Apparently not scoring a TD in the 1st qrt. does not mean shit but winning 12 out of 16. Cool story bro!
