Did you not see what happened 5 minutes early when the saint gave the ball to the brees on 4th and inches.

The run was the right call, just not up the gut.

Jennings WAS underrated. I'm not sure how you can claim he doesn't CURRENTLY get credit for being one of the most productive receivers in the league when he was selected for the NFC in the Pro Bowl last season, an honor that doesn't necessary reflect who you are, but rather how you're perceived. A selection there has everything to do with how people view you.

As far as him being the 2nd best receiver in the league, I have to disagree. He operates in a multi-option offense with a QB who likes to spread the ball around. I don't care about his primary numbers because of that situation, but he's much less frequently double covered than other top receivers and yet his Catch % is lower than receivers like Andre Johnson who ARE their team's primary target and consistently draw double teams.

Roddy White's another receiver with a higher catch % despite playing with an inferior QB. You can certainly argue for Jennings' place in the Top 5 WRs in the league, but #2 is a stretch. Personally, I'd say he's 4th, maybe 5th if Calvin Johnson can find consistency with his QB and himself.

EDIT: Looking at Pro Bowl numbers, he was 4th in voting for the NFC's WRs. Yes, that's underrated. Not criminally so, though.

my niners fan mate weeps every time rodgers puts up numbers like this - he spent the whole of the run up to that draft arguing for AR over Alex Smith

The play calling was pretty bad for the saints all night.

On the play before the failed 4th down, they attempted to run the ball behind a TE who was blocking a d-linemen,the TE got pushed back and that's the main reason why that failed.Either the line,Brees or the Payton needed to do a better job of getting the linemen on linemen, use the TE to double the guy at the point of attack and a simple dive would of done the trick.

On the failed 4th down they went with a long drawn out play action pass, you need a quicker developing play.By the time Brees had finished the play action the DB's had all the receivers covered.I actually think Green Bay came out with only 3 guys with their hand in the dirt,a quick QB sneak between the nose and end would of been a better call imo.

You are right about the final play though,i think it was bad execution rather than bad playcalling. It's a simple play,if you have faith in your line and running back then it's the right call.

Jennings gets plenty of credit. Maybe before he performed so well in the playoffs and superbowl last year but everyone knows how good he is now.

Am I the only one who finds great qb play like rogers' to be boring?

Last night the Packers looked like a fantasy football team. Actually, they reminded me of the Rams circa 1999, with the actual offensive and defensive schemes being an exception. Fast, aggressive and opportunistic defense, offense that is just as unstoppable as those Rams. The only thing they're lacking is a Marshall Faulk, but they really don't need it.

I want to see the Jets beat this team in the Super Bowl.

And then like the Pats over the Rams, we can start our own dynasty!!!

It's really too bad that the Saints couldn't finish the last drive, that was one of the best executed 2 minute drills I can remember seeing. 70 yards in one minute, with hardly any wasted seconds ticking off the clock.

Drew Brees just consistently amazes me--remember, this is a guy who San Diego tried to replace with Doug fucking Flutie early in his career. Brees is the ultimate example of why you can't write off a young QB after one or two years (Sanchez haters take notice.)

That diving catch by Colston was unbelievable.

Absolutely. A perfect throw through a tight window and a phenomenal effort by Colston to reel it in. And maybe the most impressive part about it is that the Saints were back up at the line, ready to run another play within a matter of seconds. No hesitation: that's what sets great offenses apart in the two minute drill.

Watching New Orleans, all I can do is thank the football gods that Miami was stupid enough to choose Dante Culpepper over Drew Brees.

Brees was mediocre in SD. I think that he would have been mediocre in Miami too.

New Orleans evaluating WR Marques Colston's shoulder. They could have a serious injury on their hands. Stay tuned. #Saints

Maybe Brees hit him with a bat at half time.

I always hear about the packers great CB tandem and overall best secondary. I guess they proved it on the field by holding Brees to 419 yards and 3 scores

If 54 TD's and 22 Picks over two years is Mediocre, sing me up for wanting Mediocre QB play like that this season.

The thing about them is that they have a penchant for the big play, which makes commentators think they're unbelievable. But they're not true shutdown corners and can consistently be beat.

He had one excellent year in 2004 where he had 27 TD-7 Int. The following year 24-15 which is not that outstanding, especially considering the talent around him. The less said about his first two years the better.

    Overall - mediocre.
