Greene will be so important to this team... LT doesn't have the legs to be anything more than a 3rd down back and McKnight & Powell are unproven... hopefully he can stay healthy for a full season and we don't over-work him.
If the preseason is any indication of what Greene can do then he will have a breakout year. As long as Mark starts to complete more passes and Shotty can find some deeper pass patterns in his playbook to spread out the defenses so they can't have 7 or 8 people in the box, Shonn will have at least 1,200 yards.
I hope so. Last year I was surprised not so much by how well LT played, at least early, as by how little Greene was able to come in and produce in spelling LT. He showed he's fumbling less, which is huge. Fumbling RB's really blow chunks imo. He seems a bit fragile, too, but hopefully avoids injury and has a great season.
on a serious note I loved Greene coming out of Iowa and i dont remember if it was MB or IJR i was talking to when the pick was made but we said the pick had to be shonn greene when the trade up was announced. Greene's running style will shorten his career, but if he can stay healthy and the OL holds up, he will have a great year 1100+yds (think they slow him down near the end for the playoffs unless were fighting for a WC spot) and at least 8 rushing tds
My current favorite Jet! I want to see him bust heads and be the guy, his War Machine Greene highlights are unreal. I want him to succeed and this is the year to do it
Last year, he went too early in most FF Drafts and, consequently, he went later than he probably should have in most FF Drafts this year. I took him in Round 2 (chose a QB in Round 1), fully expecting that he's gonna rack up numbers this year. Tomlinson is on his last leg and McKnight is still developing; all signs point to Greene getting a heavy workload.
LT's great first half of the season (and greene's fumbling problem in his limited snaps) kind of skewed things for him. LT started off great and with his pass catching abilities, they wanted to ride the hot hand. I don't really think it was an indictment on greene's abilities. He's going to have a really good year. i predict 1200-1300 yards and 8 tds
Shonn was alright tonight on limited opportunities. Lt on the other hand was very important in the passing game. He's still more important to the offense than greene
LT looked like the better player again tonight, but we definitely won't see a repeat of last year where LT basically takes over as the feature back. They know they have to keep him fresh.. he showed his value as a 3rd down pass catching back, and we need him at 100% for that all year.
for me the jury is still out on Greene. i don't see him hitting the hole with great burst and his running style is going to make him prone to injury. i am also not yet sold on his ability to protect the football. Not to mention that he needs a helmet that will stay on his noggin. But I am hoping for the best.
I think he's fine. Not one of the best or anything but he's a competent hard nosed back. LT just showed he can do it another year so that takes a lot of pressure off Greene.
