Shaun Ellis is underrated around the league more than with Jets fans. With Jets fans, I would say Hobson is pretty underrated. Not spectacular, but a solid player and he's still real young.
Pennington is being severly underrated by many on this board who are dismissing his past accomplishments, are sure he can't play anymore, and blame him for playing hurt. Barton is also underrated. Memories are short on this board and he had a very very good year in 2004.
as of right now, pennington is the most underrated player on our team if not in football hes been counted out of playing football by everyone and their mother (including jackass chris carter) and now he wants to prove he can still be the guy he was in '02 when he used to be compared to montana. i cant wait for pennington to comeback and turna lot of heads.
i think everyone could agree with that. ellis was always overlooked around here and curtis is 4th all time in yds but hes treated like he isnt even on the list, people dont tend to notice this was his FIRST year during his CAREER he didnt go for 1000 or more yds
I've got 3: 1. Eric Barton-Was awesome in 2004. People forget what a big loss he was last year and how much he should help this year. 2. Chad Pennington-I don't have a problem with people saying he's done, he could be, we don't know. But the people who act like he was never good are retarded. Before getting hurt he was playing at a very high level in 2004, and did a good job playing through the injury to get us into the playoffs and get us a win. While his arm strength was never one of his best qualities, it was good enough to make all the throws. If he somehow recovers and returns to pre-injury Chad, than we've got a good qb for a few more years and Kellen Clemens is going to be waiting awhile. 3. Laverneous Coles-If we can get decent QB play this year I think he'll bounce back and have a good year. No WR could have done well last year.
funny how people can havedifferent opinions...you think hes underrated, I think hes fighting desperately for his job this year...hobson that is
coles is underrated???? underrated means that he is actually better than people give him credit for you realize that right? coles is underrated???? wow
I was going to mention him hours ago, but I decided I wasn't interested in any arguments tonight. (I think most people here hate him.)
Titus Adams...jk.... I'd go with Barton as well. Look at 2 years ago defense and this last year and you see the difference. He really brought that raider fire to the team (back when that was a good thing anyways)
Considering how much hate Barrett got on this board last year I'd have to agree with you. Pretty ironic since a year ago he might have been the most overrated Jet on this board.
To me, thinking that someone won't come back from an injury doesn't make him underrated if he actually does (which no one knows now, anyway). In other words, I don't see how Pennington can be viewed as underrated, except possibly by people who never thought he was ever any good (as NYJets38 pointed out). I personally doubt that he'll come back at the level he once was; I might end up being wrong, but IMO that doesn't make him underrated, just healthier than expected. Anyway, I would go with Barton.
I've gotta say Justin Miller, he not only has the potential to become a legitimate cornerback in this league, but his potential as a PR is intimidating
If you really judge a player this way, then please change your avatar. You continually knock Pennington, ignore his accomplishments (winning percentage, 2 playoff wins, high QB rating, high TD to INT ratio). All that Pennington has done wrong was get injured - not his fault - and come back too early this year. You knock him purely for his lack of arm strength and his injury history. Well, between 1970 and 1973, Namath played exaclty one full season (1972) and played less than 6 games in 1970, 1971 and 1973. He actually played in less than half the Jets' games in a four year period. I guess the Jets should have cut "ole wobbly legs" in 1970 after he started missing time. And how about Klecko - he was a bum also, missing significant time almost every year since 1982, particularly when the Jets needed him most - at the end of the season during playoff runs in 1982 and 1986. And Freeman McNeil is another one. It seemed he was hurt every year except for 1982. I respect Pennington for always giving maximum effort. The player how angered me the most last year was Ellis, who took his big contract and then took the year off. Why does he get a pass when failure to give it your best and wasting your talent is an insult to all Jet fans and a far more egregious offense than a legitimate injury, all out effort, and an obsession with some over arm strength rather than results.
