That should not be a flag. It's a shame the NFL is turning soft.

Its embarrassing that if there is any serious contact the refs just assume penalty at this point. It's like with Leonhards hit on someone sending him out of bounds last year. Called a penalty and he used nothing but his arms.

Under the current rules you can't hit a defenseless player in the head with anything-helmet/arms/shoulder/whatever.

To me, it looks like he aimed for and hit his chest and his head whipped back. If he hit him in the head, I'm all for a penalty, but I don't think he did. Its was just a real hard hit that looked bad.

At the :16 mark, the tape shows Brodney leading with his shoulder. The hit was totally legal.

If he hits him in the head/neck with his shoulder it's not legal. I can't tell one way or another whether he hit him in the head.

it's tough to get a good look at it from that angle...but you could make a case that Brodney hit him square in the upper chest...or the head. Tough call.

I agree, the hit looked pretty clean to me, the ref was hesitant to throw the flag, it was like, oh he got hit so hard, it must be illegal.

the nfl needs to review all these so called illegal shots, and make sure flags are for hits to the head/neck, or on a defenseless player, rather than just look at it as, oh that was violent, so it must be illegal.

In reg speed it looked like a flag should be thrown, in slo mo it did not but refs don't have the benefit of replay w/ regards to plays like that.

I wish someone would hit Godell like that... out of nowhere... BAM!

  13. But a hard shoulder hit to the chest is legal...or at least it used to be. Maybe tackling will be the next to go.

You might be right, I can't tell one way or another if he hit him in the head.

You don't have to lead w/ the helmet or hit a player in the head to get a penalty.

I do not like head shots at all but if a ref can not tell that was a good hit in regular speed dear lord why are they wearing stripes?

The WR was square to Pool and he hit him in the upper chest. I think it was an obvious good hit. Unfortunately the resulting helmet flying and Fabio getting bowled over make it look worse than it is.

The problem with Refs is, they see the aftermath and think they have to call it. I see it in my hockey leagues when the weaker skaters get knocked over because they are terrible and the ref will call the better skater for tripping or something equivalent because the guy fell. I get a zillion penalties for that all the time........... Well they do that in the NFL as well..........
