http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/20/todd-haley-upset-with-john-harbaugh/ All Haley does is cry
This is worse than when the cowboys complained about the Vikings I think it was not taking a knee last season. Just shut the hell up and stop them scoring
Haley is really pissed that his 3rd and 4th stringers could not make a stop. The ravens could have really rubbed it in and went for two on the last play.
It's too bad the Chiefs don't play the Patriots in the pre-season this year. The Pats love to run it up.
I don't get this... in football as in any other other sport you try to make AS MANY POINTS AS POSSIBLE! If you don't like it you don't get the spirit of what is called "sport"! i.e fuck you Haley (whom I already hated even before this bullshit)
no it isn't. you try to get as many points as it takes to win balanced by not putting your players in unnecessary situations where there is potential for harm or injury, or a costly mistake. at the point you think the game is won, coaches back off. you have seen QB's take a knee at the end of games to run out the clock, haven't you, rather than trying to score again? that play clearly disputes your assertion that you try to score as many points as possible. even Harbaugh admitted that he wouldn't have done so in the regular season. but in the preseason you aren't concerned about mistakes that can cost a game or injuries to players who may not make the team, your concern is seeing what these players have, and so you need them to play every minute of every game. if Haley doesn't know that, it doesn't bode well for him that his success last year wasn't a fluke.
I understand if you're angry for a regular season game. But preseason? Give me a break, it's an evaluation period. Shut up, Haley. And it's paid professionals. Not like you're embarrassing college kids.
This discussion come up in every sport... While I agree on taking a knee in the last minute of the game in reg season I think it's moronic to stop scoring if there's say a qrtr left and you're up by 4 TDs. The biggest form of respect to an opponent imo is playing 100% for (nearly) every play. If you suck and they score 100 points on your team then fuck off.
I have no problem w/what Harbaugh did. Totally makes sense for a preseason game. You learn nothing about your players when your offense takes a knee. You're better off with one more snap to evaluate. Haley was just embarrassed in the moment.
If there is 15 minutes left, no coach is going to play it soft, because we've all seen the mircales happen. If there is 5 minutes left, and you're up by 4TDs, then you play to the clock and your offense plays a safe, stay-in-bounds philosophy and let your defense bend a little more too. We've all seen that.
You run safe, stay in bounds plays when you're up 4 touchdowns because you don't want to turn the ball over, because you want to keep your defense off the field if at all possible, and because you don't want to unnecessarily expose your playbook when the game is already decided. Sportsmanship has nothing to do with it. So, as many others have said, Haley needs to shut the fuck up. His reputation as a huge bitch isn't going to help him get another job when he's inevitably fired from KC.
I never said anything about sportsmanship. I was referring to the comebacks that have happened and playing to the clock. I agree with what you said, especially him being removed in KC. I never thought he should have gotten the job.
