there's a million ways to do this, but i'm using the following criteria: a) talent/skill/ability b) value by position (QB > FB) c) intangibles/play like a jet (certain guys (wilkerson, leonhard...) are harder to project than others.) O. 1. mangold 2. sanchez 3. brick 4. holmes 5. greene 6. moore 7. keller 8. plax 9. slausson 10. conner 11. hunter D. 1. ol' what's his face 2. harris 3. scott 4. cro 5. pouha 6. pace 7. leonhard 8. devito 9. wilkerson 10. smith/pool 11. thomas
Pretty bored, so I'll give this a go. I did my list on how good the player is at the respected position. Dunno what Plaxico, or Wilkerson will really be right away. Offense: 1. Nick Mangold 2. D'Brickashaw Ferguson 3. Santonio Holmes 4. Brandon Moore 5. Dustin Keller 6. Mark Sanchez 7. Shonn Greene 8. Plaxico Burress ? 9. Wayne Hunter 10. Matt Slauson 11. John Conner Defense: 1. Darrelle Revis 2. Bart Scott 3. David Harris 4. Antonio Cromartie 5. Calvin Pace 6. Sione Pouha 7. Brodney Pool 8. Mike DeVito 9. Jim Leonhard 10. Bryan Thomas 11. Mohammed Wilkerson
Offense: 0. Kerley 1. Mangold 2. D'Brick 3. Holmes 4. Greene 5. Sanchez 6. Keller 7. Moore 8. Plax 9. Slauson 10. Hunter 11. Connor Defense: 0. Ellis 1. Revis 2. Harris 3. Scott 4. Pace 5. Cromartie 6. Devito 7. Pouha 8. Leonhard 9. Thomas 10. Brodney 11. Wilkerson, but only cuz I haven't seen him play yet. I think he'll be a nice addition straight away.
1. Mangold 2. D'Brick 3. Holmes 4. Moore 5. Sanchez 6. Plax (will be above Sanchez if he returns to form). 7. Keller 8. Greene 9. Slauson 10. Hunter 11. Conner Defense: 1. Revis 2. Scott/Harris 4. Leonhard 5. Cromartie 6. Pace 7. Pouha 8. Devito 9. Thomas 10. Brodney 11. Wilkerson
1. Revis 2. Revis 3. Revis 4. Revis 5. Bart Scott 6. Revis 7. Revis 8. Revis 9. Revis 10. Revis 11. Revis
O 1 Mangold 2 D'brick 3 Holmes 4 Moore 5 Keller 6 Sanchez (hoping he takes a big step forward in his 3rd season) 7 Greene 8 Slauson 9 Hunter (can't rank them any higher till i see them play with us.) 10 Plax 11 Mason D 1 Revis 2 Harris 3 Scott 4 Cro 5 Leonhard 6 Pace 7 Pouha 8 Pool 9 Devito 10 Thomas (just doesn't fit our system.) 11 Wilkerson
But seriously 1 Mangold 2 Brick 3 Holmes 4 Moore 5 Sanchez 6 Keller 7 Greene 8 Conner 9 Slauson 10 Hunter 11 Plax 1 Revis 2 Scott 3 Harris 4 Leonhard 5 Pace 6 Cromartie 7 Pouha 8 Wilkerson 9 Thomas 10 Devito 11 Pool
Offense: 1. Mangold 2. Brick 3. Holmes 4. Moore 5. Sanchez 6. Keller 7. Burress 8. Greene 9-11. Slauson/Hunter/Conner Defense: 1. Revis 2. Harris/Scott/Cromartie 5. Pouha 6. Pace 7. Leonhard 8. Devito 9. Thomas 10. Smith/Pool 11. Wilkerson
Offense 1. Thor 2. Moore 3. Brick 4. Holmes 5. Spaggot 6. Greene 7. Keller 8. Burress 9. Conner 10. Slauson 11. Hunter Defense 1. Revis 2. Harris 3. Scott 4. Cro 5. Pouha 6. Leonhard 7. DeVito 8. Pool 9. Smith 10. Wilson/Strickland 11. Wilkerson I feel disrespectful listing Wilkerson 11th but this defense is dirty. I can see Kyle Wilson cracking the top 5 by the end of the year
How can anyone put Wilkerson anything other than 11 on D he has yet to play a snap at the pro level.Granted he may be top 5 by the end of the season but as of now hasnt proven anything.
OFFENSE 1. Mangold 2. Brick 3. Holmes (Hard to pick any other top 3) ------- 4. Moore 5. Greene 6. Sanchez 7. Keller 8. Plaxico (don't care that he hasn't played yet.. he can be big time for us) 9. Hunter 10. Slauson 11. Conner DEFENSE 1. Revis 2. Harris 3. Scott 4. Cromartie 5. Pouha 6. Pace 7. DeVito 8. Leonhard 9. Thomas 10. Pool/Smith 11. Wilkerson
I just don't think you can accurately rank football players across positions like this. For example, David Harris is great but he's only able to thrive because Scott and Pouha eat up blockers for him. Greene is great, but put him behind Detroit's offensive line and he'd be averaging three yards a carry. With that in mind, how can you really say that Harris is better than Scott, or that Greene is better than Mangold? That's part of the appeal of football for me; it's the ultimate team sport.
on the one hand, i agree with you. we don't know anything. on the other hand, by your reasoning, how can anyone boo a draft pick? people boo and cheer draft picks because they hear and see things and form their own opinions about team needs, etc. for example, me. i don't know shit about mo wilkerson first-hand. never seen him play a down in my life. but i've heard lots of people, like good (and bad) beat writers, and bart scott, say that mo wilkerson is just wrecking niggaz and will be an immediate impact player. and i've seen brian thomas flail around like a donkey for what seems like 100 years. therefore, in my rankings, which are purely subjective: mo >>> thomas. simple. that's how.
Bryan Thomas isn't dynamic, but he rarely makes mistakes and is actually pretty underrated imo. Not a world-beater, but better than the crap he takes around here sometimes. I'd still put him pretty far down the list, in terms of defensive players. I'd go: Def: 1 - Revis 2 - Harris 3 - Scott 4 - Pace 5 - Cromartie 6 - Pouha 7 - Leonhard 8 - B.Thomas 9 - DeVito 10 - Pool/Smith 11 - Wilkerson Offense: 1 - Mangold 2 - Brick 3 - Sanchez (based on the fact I think he becomes an elite QB this year, and it's the most important position on the field. If we're basing this on the past, this is too high.) 4 - Holmes 5 - Moore 6 - Greene 7 - Keller 8 - Plax 9 - Slauson 10 - Hunter 11 - Conner
Offense: 1. Nick Mangold 2. D'Brickashaw Ferguson 3. Santonio Holmes 4. Brandon Moore 5. Mark Sanchez 6. Dustin Keller 7. Derek Mason 8. Shonn Greene 9. Wayne Hunter 10. John Conner 11. Matt Slauson Defense: 1. Darrelle Revis 2. Bart Scott 3. David Harris 4. Antonio Cromartie 5. Sione Pouha 6. Calvin Pace 7. Jim Leonhard 8. Mike DeVito 9. Brodney Pool 10. Mohammed Wilkerson 11. Bryan Thomas I left Plaxico Burress out of my offense 11, because he will not be out performing Derek Mason unless we turn our offense into a vertical one. Sanchez will learn on possession receivers finding Mason, Keller, and Holmes (even LDT) much more often than Burress.
