Shame it went down this way. Cotchery was one of my favorites. One of the few long standing Jets left. Mason better be worth it.

I've seen enough of Mason over the last several years and It's not as though I'm expecting him to suck balls..I just think Cotch - 8 years younger, knowing the offence, and having been a clutch receiver for us - and I think one of the more underrated receivers in the game, was a better option to keep.

Hope like hell I'm proved wrong though!

Could be worse, we could be a shitty team and losing our fan favorites because then we would have nothing.

At least we still have a good team, someone said "winning is the best deodorant." This wont be so bad once the season actually starts.

It makes plenty of sense to those of us that understand this game.

Cotchery had a solid Jets career but in addition to the injuries, he had a couple of bad drops last year. Mason should be solid and Kerley could be given more of an opportunity now.

I'm sad, my fav jet, I have his jersey. Classy guy, lots of respect, didn't act out or act like a thug, nothing but work from him.

All the bet to him, I wish we could have kept him tho, great locker room guy and vet exp.

    Oh well, it's a business.

I'm going to miss him. He played with heart, passion, bled green, even hurt himself for the good of the team. I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes.

As one of my all time favorite Jets, it's very sad to see him go. I compiled a short list of my favorite J-Co catches:

    1) The catch and run he had against NE in the '06-'07 season from Chad that went for a TD
    2) The catch and run he had against NE last year that set up the Holmes TD
    3) The catch against NE (see a theme here?) where he was mauled by 2 defenders, managed to somehow stay on his feet and get to the end zone
    4) The catch against the Browns where he got injured and still managed to keep the play alive and make a sensational diving catch
    5) The one handed catch against NE on that Thursday night game from Brett Favre (still caught it even with defensive pass interference)

    6) Someone can help me out here, but I remember him having a big punt return for a TD, I just can't recall when

You may be thinking of the kick return TD he had against St.Louis his rookie year.

Ya that was it. Good call. I remember that was huge, but we still managed to lose that game and back into the playoffs.

If he really asked for his release due to feeling disrespected and lack of playing time that surprises me. He never seemed like a "Me" guy. I thought of him as a team player.
