http://msnbc.msn.com/id/13985811/ Report: Bush might sit out 2006 season No. 2 draft pick, Heisman winner fighting Saints over contract MSNBC News Services Updated: 1:03 a.m. CT July 23, 2006 Former Heisman Trophy winnner and No. 2 overall draft pick Reggie Bush is considering sitting out his rookie season and re-entering the 2007 draft because of his contract squabbles with the New Orleans Saints, Yahoo! reported Saturday, citing NFL sources. "No player has ever had the kind of leverage that Reggie Bush has right now," the source told Yahoo!. "The Saints made it clear what they were willing to do before and now we'll see if they're going to get there." Bush is scheduled to report to training camp Thursday in Jackson, Miss. Yahoo! said that talks between the parties have been nearly non-existent, according to sources. Bush's marketing agent Mike Ornstein told the Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss. on Friday that the running back likely would not sign with the Saints before camp. ? 2006 MSNBC Interactive
No way he'll sit out. NFL | Fines for holding out increased Sun, 23 Jul 2006 05:54:54 -0700 Ron Borges, of the Boston Globe, reports the NFL's collective bargaining agreement has raised the limit NFL teams can fine a signed player holding out of training camp all the way to $14,000 per day. Lets see, thats a lot of money... $14,000 a day until the season is over?
If he does hold out into the season, I have a chest of gold dubloons that says RobA is openly rooting against the Jets by game 4.
He isn't gonna get the contract he wanted by sitting out. Him and his agent are just playing the media game to put pressure on the Saints anyway.
I heard he, the team and his agents were going to do all they could to get into camp because holing out in New Orleans would piss off the yokels too much. I mean after all they have been through it is pretty bad PR to squabble over a million bucks. 100 to 1 shot that he holds out the whole season although the Deuce must be doing hail mary's before bed.
Wow that guy wants his money, and he wants all of it. Nothing wrong with that. They should of never drafted him if this is what they were going to do. I guarantee this would'nt have happened with us.
No one player is bigger than the team? Seems someone forgot to tell wee Reggie. Should be a great title in the papers, "Bush still stuck on the bench"
this is what i thnk is whats happenin the saints told bush a certain figure that he would get bush was happy with it everythings good. some reason or not they lowered the figure bush wants what they talked about before and is holdin out unless he gets it. bush is a good kid and isnt startin problems to start problems. he is one of the most hyped players in nfl history he deserves a big contract
I don't know he was reported as saying he wanted to be paid like a #1 overall pick. Apparently he thinks all that rampant speculation meant he deserved the money more than Mario. :drunk:
None of these draft picks is worthy of the money they end up hauling in - until they prove it on the field. So, yeah, I'd have to disagree with that sort of logic. The old just give them the keys to everything cause without them we are nothing. The price for ramped up speculation sure is booming.
