We needed Holmes or Edwards before a luxury item like Aso and it sounds like we could have both Holmes AND Aso. Trust our GM.

I'm not saying we can't get Aso now.

What I am saying is that it hurt our chances to get him, and I'm simply asking whats the reaction to such a high contract being given in comparison to other WR's including Braylon that could be had for cheaper.

You had to lock Holmes up. He is one of the better clutch big game players in the league.

He is only going to get better and build more chemistry with Sanchez now that he gets to perform for a full season with this team.

Tanny obviously knows the cap implications back and forth. There's no way in hell he'd jeopardize signing Aso if he thought signing Santonio would do so.

He got more money then edwards will because he is a better, more dynamic player. The fact that we got him for less then he could have got elsewhere makes it an even better deal.

holems was priority #1, and for good reason, anyone who roots for the jets, should be thrilled

Against my better judgement, I'm gonna dignify this poll with an answer.

We can't "lose" Asomugha. We never had him to begin with. He is a luxury.

We could very easily have lost Holmes, who is essential to our offense. He is a necessity.

That said, there's no reason that we can't have both. Holmes return pretty much has nothing to do with our pursuit of Asomugha IMO.

I have a man crush on Mark Sanchez, and I'm not afraid to let it be known.

I don't think signing Holmes means we can't sign Nnamdi too. Trust in the Tanny!

I know it's exciting to think of Aso signing with us but I think we still need to improve our LBrs or we will be getting killed over the middle like we did last season.

this team doesn't 'NEED' braylon either.

it's much easier to find a guy who can compliment holmes then a guy who can play opposite revis.

call me crazy, but i think randy moss could be a solid option. a motivated moss playing under rex is a good thing.

give me the revis clone over a WR. WR's are soooo much easier to find.

You're clueless if you don't believe Braylon Edwards isn't going to sign for big time money. This is Braylon's first chance to get a huge deal, and believe me... He's going for the money this offseason.

All reports have it, now that Holmes is locked up long term, that the Jets are going CB opposite of Darrelle Revis. All signs point to Aso.

Why are some Jet fans questioning this move?

Holmes averaged 4.3 catches and 62.1 yards per game during the regular season last year. He also put up 6 TD's after 12 games with us. (missed 4 games due to suspension).

    During those same 12 games?

Edwards averaged 3.4 catches, 56.4 yards per game during the regular season last year. He put up 4 TD's during the last 12 games of the season.

There is no question that Holmes had the better regular season once arriving to the team. The scary part? Edwards had much more chemestry with Sanchez, Shotty Jr and the Jets offense, but that couldn't stop Holmes from putting up the better numbers when compared to Edwards.

Also, how can anyone forget the 3 games against the Lions, Browns and Texans? Holmes went off during the final drives and OT etc etc.

Negative. It is not Aso or nothing.

Jets have made an offer to Cromartie and have looked into Drayton Florence, as well as having drafted a CB in the first round last year.

    This thread stinks.

    Question.

As of right now. How confident are you we land Aso?

    Me, pretty confident. 1-10? 8

A fair point, and the fact that Pool is not signed...Smith is not signed..Safety is an issue.
