Josh Baker's workout numbers from Mizzou's Pro Day:

    6'2 243

    4.66 40 yard dash
    25 bench press reps
    37 inch vertical
    9”9 broad jump
    6.93 3-cone drill
    4.34 20 yard shuttle
    11.89 60 yard shuttle

    Very respectable numbers.

This kid looks like a workout warrior.

*He played at Delaware with Joe Flacco before transferring to NW Missouri State

Last season's stats: 66 passes for 838 yards and 9 TDs. Experienced Wildcat QB that rushed for 3 TDs.

This is a pretty long highlight tape, but this signing has special teams written all over it. He's a very capable blocker with speed.

Interesting. Nice landing sport for Herzlich. Wonder if we made a play for McDaniel.

Herzlich was the only name I was hoping to see the Jets swoop early and sign, surprised he signed there so quickly and we didn`t make more of an effort to get him in.

How do you know if we made an effort to get him or not?

we will likely be way behind in the UDFA hunt. we are too busy negotiating with Holmes and Edwards. and anybody else that is a proven NFL player we might want Dawan Landry?

We will have some staffers calling UDFA's. But tanny won't be making any calls to those guys for a couple days...

    That's not true.

All 32 teams have someone important to sign. Tannenbaum isn't the only person that works in our front office.

We'll bring in quite a few solid UDFAs.

Poorly worded on my part, I`m sure Rex & co did their homework and checked up on him but there didn`t seem to be any word from the Jets about him at all recently.

Whether or not they were restricted from naming the UDFA`s they wanted due to the lockout I`m not sure, but he seems quite highly rated and he himself must have thought of the Jets as one of his potential landing spots.

He is the guy who had a form of cancer right?

very interesting... He seems to be a Cumberland Clone. Workout warrior with great measurables, but often inconsistent. Very interesting that we grabbed a TE that is identical to the guys we have on the roster. I figured we would have been after a blocking TE. Either way color me excited to have the Jets first FA signing of the year in the books!

    Jeff Maehl WR Oregon
    Dane Sanzenbacher WR Ohio State

    Deunta Williams S North Carolina

    Zach Hurd OG Connecticut

    John Clay RB Wisconsin
    Derrick Locke RB Kentucky

    Josh Bynes, LB, Auburn

Some guys still available that are intriguing, especially the WR's.

^ After watching some of that game footage I found on youtube, he looks like a very capable blocker. He puts some pretty big hits on some defenders.

My main knock against this guy right now is the level of competition he played against.

Still hoping for Deunta Williams or Jeron Johnson for some future safety help
