Jets | Schlegel signed Fri, 21 Jul 2006 18:37:41 -0700 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports the New York Jets have signed third-round draft pick LB Anthony Schlegel to a four-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Good work Tanny. Now concentrate on getting those first three picks signed so the future is all locked up, and these kids can get their asses to camp!
This is the one part of the front office aspect I wasn't worried about. I'm sure they're good especially since Tannebaum was an accountant before this.
I hope that as the season approaches we all begin to temper our expectation of Mr. Schlegel. He is a 3rd rd linebacker on a team who's only depth and strength is linebacker. I hope for the sake of our franchise he pans out - but until then keep it realistic.
Schlegel will do what he does best ... play the run. Packages where you might see him this yr? Goalline, punt block, kick block .. 3rd & 1 .. etc. Until he learns to play in space & play the pass he will/should be left to do what he does best ... knock the piss outa everything between the tackles.
He'll probably be a two-down guy, but I think he can compliment Vilma nicely in the middle of the 3-4.
Isn't Schlegel 25 years old already? I think he is an interesting guy and could help out against the run, but I don't think he will be anything special.
