This is Jets related, but if this isn't the proper forum, please move it mods. I'll be going to college at Uconn this fall, and living up there. Sadly they do not get the Jets up there, just the Patriots. Just wondering if anyone who goes or went there knows if there's any places around that have out of town games. Getting Direct TV is not an option. If not I'll probably come home a lot of weekends, but that could get pretty inconvienent, so I'm hoping there's another option. Thanks.
I went to UConn in the 1980s, which of course was before the advent of television. Those were the days when we thrilled to radio broadcasts of Jets games as done by the likes of Grantland Rice and Red Barber, as we cruised in our jalopies en route to the next sock hop. Nowadays, you can pretty much catch a Jets game on local TV whenever they play at a different time than or against the Patriots, or else swing by the Student Center where they are sure to have Jets games as well as other out-of-area NFL games on the various television screens for the on-campus population who have not been programmed into servitude to the Dark Lord Bellicheck. There are actually a lot of Jets fans in Storrs, as UConn draws its fair share of Litchfield and Fairfield County residents.
http://www.slingmedia.com/us/ I have heard you can use this thing to stream media over the net. In am not sur e how good it is
There are plenty of sports bars around. you can even try the Sports Bar in Willimantic. How old are you by the way? You may be S.O.L. if you're under 21
I went to UCONN in the 90's, but obviously I was hunting down places to watch the Phins. Not sure if there's a Dave & Busters in Hartford yet, but they have a giant sports bar that carries all the games.
I graduated from UConn in '04. There really weren't too many places to catch Jets games actually. There is a sports bar down in Willimantic, which is about the closest you are gonna get. The CT CBS station actually does play the majority of the Jets games, but you do miss out on 3-4 a year. Hope that helps.
