From roto. Not sure what this means but I'm guessing this could impact a lot with the draft coming in a few days.
ESPN is reporting on it in about 2 min if anyone wants to watch what they have to say. But the main thing is that the NFL Owners will be requesting a stay. I have no idea what that is but from the limited reading I did on ESPN.com I think it is just a period of time that gives the owners time to appeal the ruling. But the stay has to be approved. There are a bunch of questions still circling around about how FA will be affected and whether or not the old FA rules will apply. Hopefully things will be cleared up on ESPN .. but thats a long shot EDIT: A stay -- is a suspension of a case or a suspension of a particular proceeding within a case. A judge may grant a stay on the motion of a party to the case or issue a stay sua sponte, without the request of a party. Courts will grant a stay in a case when it is necessary to secure the rights of a party
LET'S SIGN EVERYBODY!!! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! I've been waiting 2 1/2 months to get that off my chest.
News travels slow in Kanadia huh? I've been active for a few days now. I was very impressed with the couple of threads that were started because of my absence. No excuse and no reason why I stopped posting.
It would be interesting for the draft if the ban on trading players was (at least temporarily) lifted....
It would be great but I don't see it happening. The NFL will file a stay (if they haven't already) and nothing will be implemented before the draft.
They have already filed, but it will need to be ruled on and granted by the judge in order to take effect.... which could happen as soon as tomorrow. The judge may not grant the stay, it's not a sure thing.
Lockout Lifted Judge rules for players, lockout to be lifted; NFL set to appeal MINNEAPOLIS -- Judge Susan Nelson Monday granted the plaintiffs' request for an injunction to lift the NFL lockout. But perhaps the biggest development is that Nelson has decided not to stay the decision, which could force the league to open for business immediately. The NFL now must seek a stay with the Eighth Circuit, where the appeal would be heard, in order to prevent a potentially chaotic beginning to the 2011 league year. Nelson's decision in the Brady et al v. National Football League et al case comes on the heels of the mediation she appointed going into a nearly-month long recess, with U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan making the decision last Wednesday to adjourn the session until May 16. The league will likely appeal Nelson's decision swiftly, wanting to avoid the beginning of free agency and offseason programs with the potential that, if the Eighth Circuit rules in its favor, the lockout could be reinstated in the coming weeks or months. Lets get our free agents signed already!!!
so basically if you need a playbook, or want to call coach to say, "hey man what's going on??" you have a few hours to do so...then the lockout if back in effect.
