The Jets are scheduled to open the 2011 season on the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks against the Dallas Cowboys. The game is going to be special to New Yorkers and as Rex said, "That stadium is going to be full of emotion, not only the people from the area but in the entire country." That said I think the Jets should do something for the game. Obviously before the game there will be some sort of ceremony and it will play as a big media story prior to the game, but I think we should do something special that not every event gets for gametime. Maybe an image of the towers at midfield or American flags on the uniforms. I know it might be gimmicky, but a day like this so close to so many of our homes and hearts deserves extra. Agree/Disagree? Ideas?
Would be pretty cool except the odds of the season starting on time on this date are slim to none rite now unfortunately.
Since the Cowboys are "America's Team", this is merely a ploy by the NFL to demonize the Jets as being radical Muslim extremists with box cutters that hate us for our freedom.
still do not understand why its not jets vs giants with a kick off time of 9:11 EST could have been one of the most special moments in NY history. still will be special but dallas diminished it
I read on the board that the league absolutely doesn't want to have any Jets vs Giants game to be primetime. Something about hogging the spotlight for just one city. Still looking forward to this opener. I'm glad the NFL granted us 5 primetime games and recognized we are among the most popular teams in the league right now. This game will probably draw record ratings for an opener.
I think the best way to mark the 10th anniversary is to open up the NFL season with football and tailgating across the country, just like we always did before. No better way to show the attacks didn't change our way of life and never will. Fuck them.
Thank you. I saw you posted after me and thought it was going to be a lecture about understanding the root causes of their anger. (j/k :beer
I think the best way to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks would be to rebuild the twin towers.
Or at least do something already and be done with it. That's New York City for you, this is why they didn't get cable TV until the 90s.
Too bad Wade Phillips is'nt still the Cowboy's head coach. Now they might actually be ready for this game. I hope the league is ready.
The Cowboys are underrated because of their record last year. That team should compete for a playoff bye.
I feel for people who lost someone. It will be hard to get the emotion up for the game. Puts things in perspective.
