It would be awesome if KW could step up next year and become a solid corner opposite Revis. It sounds like he's really serious about taking that step. Not having to sign Cromartie would definitely help in locking up both Holmes and Edwards long term (or at least one of them). Wouldn't mind getting Harris locked down long term as well.
... this is a nice article ... ... the revis contract bs def hurt k-dub as he was moved form inside in minicamp to outside w/o revis in camp & 1st 4 weeks to back inside once revis came back ... ... he def needs to work more on turning his head around for the ball ... l_j_r
man I thought K-dub was the worst corner in history who dissapeared for games at a time... *sarcasm* Guess he wasn't so bad afterall.
He was the top punt returner in the nation and couldnt beat out how many of our starters who shouldnt be used on special teams? That and his favorite movie is "The Wash" and loves "Weeds" makes me scared.
Calling anyone a bust after one is kinda harsh and moronic but he did kinda suck... badly and needs improvement which he did make towards the EOS
hehe I'm a big fan of Weeds but don't smoke that shit. I'm also a big fan of Sons of Anarchy and I don't smuggle guns, associate with the IRA or murder people
I think actually he played pretty well in the middle... on the outside he sucked but it's his first season and we really do ask a lot from whoever plays opposite Revis so I wouldn't read too much into it.
I think the reason why many are so down on him, besides his play, is that he was rated the #2 CB in the draft on many boards and players like Devin McCourty, Kareem Jackson, and Patrick Robinson who were all drafted in the first but rated below him played significantly better.
After Week 17 there should have been no doubts that he can play corner. He did a great job on Steve Johnson all game. Its about getting comfortable in this league.
I thought the exact opposite thing. I thought he looked lost when playing the nickel position, but was fine on the outside.
Great read, thanks for the post. I think Wilson is going to take a big step forward this season and show why he was a 1st round pick. He had solid coverage most of the time, just didnt get his head turned around in time to make a play on the ball, something that will/should come in time as he adjusts to the speed and the game slows down for him.
Kyle Wilson can play in this league no doubt. He has the best corner in the game to look up to and that will be huge in his development. BTW good article it is nice is see that he is working out with another NFL player and staying in shape. It would be so easy to be complacent during this lock out.
While I honestly think Kyle Wilson will end up being a pretty damn good cornerback. Week 17 means less than nothing. The Bills had the mighty Brian Brohm playing the second nfl game of his career (and his first that season )at QB. And Steve Johnson still came somewhat close to 100 receiving yards (72 yards) Id take more away from what Kyle Wilson does in pre-season than on what he did that game.
I was definitely disappointed in Wilson that he couldn't beat out Drew Coleman, and even Lowery, last year.. but saying he's a bust or a wasted pick is just ridiculous. The guy was shuffled all over the field, was learning a new position as a nickel corner and struggled. It happens. He has a ton of talent and ability and will be a great player for us I think, especially learning from Revis. That being said, I don't want to go into next year relying on only him as the #2 corner. I badly want Cro back, but if he's not, I hope we bring in a veteran FA to push Wilson and compete with him. Can't just hand him the job without competition. And I don't count Drew Coleman as competition. But if Cro IS back, I would hope a year learning to defend slot receivers did him well and we will have an unbelievable group of corners the next few years.
