HOF BACK? yes. but its like saying the giants have a hof left fielder...makes no sense...i dont want henry either but lets stop with the curtis martin exagerations..its silly already.....
I hope Henry gets traded. I like him but hes just not what he was when he was with the Bills. I would easily take that 3rd rounder.
You actually don't think Curtis Martin is a future HOF'er? Am I missing something? Curtis Martin is one of the greatest RB's who ever laced them up.
The only reason I'd see for adding Travis Henry would be to make the RB situation as muddled as the QB situation. It would serve as a great distraction. This is something I could see us doing if Isiah Thomas were running the show.
Cut him. It's what a sound rebuilding program calls for at this point if a viable option presents itself. Good point. Giving our current backs 300 carries next year is going to get us about 1,050 yards. Henry would do better than that. Maybe enough better to get us to 8-8, which is really where I'd like to see us wind up in our main rebuilding year. I don't see a huge bidding war erupting over Henry's services. He was very highly regarded in Buffalo but has not done a lot since the broken leg. He'd probably be a 2 million a year player tops and we could fit that in under the cap with no difficulties at all. Cap room is of no value unless it has talent associated with it. I don't exactly see a stream of talented players knocking on the Jet's doors at the moment looking to use up that cap space. Blaylock and Houston are a waste of roster space. Washington may or may not be able to carry a 3rd down back's load. Expecting anything more out of him is a fantasy. He may prove me wrong but the odds on that are very long in my opinion. Again, taking opportunities away from talented young backs is a bad thing, but only if you have talented young backs, which the Jets do not. There's a fair amount of tread on his tires. I think he might be cheaper than anybody expects at the moment. Just think sheep.
Your contradicting yourself. You say henry is better then any of our backs and can get 1050 plus yards. Then you say he has no value becuase hasnt done anything in the last couple of years
I'm not contradicting myself at all when I say Henry is not all that valuable and yet he is more valuable than the combination of backs we have combined on the Jets right now. That speaks more to how badly off we are at tailback then it does to how good Henry is. I think Henry might be able to give us 275 carries for about 1200 yards this year. That type of potential is not going to have suitors beating down his door but it certainly would help us out a lot.
Here's where I agree with you: We NEED - as in can't not have - a believable running game to take pressure off any one of: (a) a talented, but weak-armed and damaged quarterback, (b) a ne'er do well cast-off quarterback, (c) a promising, but questionable, rookie quaterback, or (d) a mediocre cowpie of a quarterback. Add to all of that a young, untested, but promising, offensive line, and something has to give. A 1,200 yard running back is crucial to the development of our offense. If Curtis can be that guy, then color me giddy. I'm just not sure. I'd take a flyer on Travis Henry for anything that does not include a 1, 2, or 3rd round pick.
are u serious? u owuld not give up our 3rd round pick for henry? i see like this im a big fan of martin, but the guy is getting older now, sometimes i tihnk his good days are over with now. why not pick up henry and bring him along slowly into the starting role along with blaylock JMO
