That and his 30 seconds on hard knocks is why you will see many people thinking he is dumb as a rock.

I don't really know how much stock can be put into the wonderlic for anyone. Some people are just shitty at taking tests.

Wow. 3 points worse than Dan Marino. That's pretty bad.

I agree that the Wonderlic test isn't a test that will tell you if you'll have success in the NFL or not. But it could be the reason why he was slow in picking up the play book...

Dan Marino played in a time where defenses didn't confuse you as much and I'm sure the preparation for the combine wasn't as good as it is now...

my two sense is that there are plenty of people who are super book smart, and have stupid football smarts, and plenty of people who are book stupid and football smart. Since the wonderlic is not a test about their football knowledge its not particularly valid.

That might be true but that dosen't mean he can't develope into a capable Rt in the NFl. His biggest problem does he have the mental capacity to play tackle in the Nfl.

JR: Getting back to the mental toughness concept. What you said there reminds me of down in Mobile (Senior Bowl week) where we stood with (the GM of his team) and watched Vlad Ducasse beg the coaches to move back inside after a couple of bad plays at tackle. Is that more of what you’re talking about?

Scout: You got it. I know we said right then there ain’t no way he’s ever gonna make it. He’s afraid of getting beat and looking bad. That’s the risk you run with the smaller college guys and the kids that everyone calls “projects” (yes, he made the air quotes!). There is a hell of a lot of pressure on those kids to try and hit home runs on every pitch and never look bad. Especially early on. Some of the kids can handle it, some can’t. He can’t, and that ain’t gonna change. Move him to guard, whatever...that’s (how they handle it) hard to see from those kids that come from small schools or kids like him that haven’t played very long.

Where do you come up with this shit? Obviously you know what the Jets true intentions were. You must have been one of the scouts looking at drafting Vlad.

For anyone who thinks the guy's a bust already keep in mind Slauson was an afterthought 7th round pick who learned for one year and became a pretty damn good starting guard.

Bill Callahan is a fucking magician. If he says Vlad can play then he can play.

This has the makings of a board meme :)

Though not as much as "Sign this Beast" and "Sanchez is a Dick" (my own personal favourite)

Dan Marino played for the one team that beat Buddy Ryan's 46 defense in 1985. Stop talking out of your ass.

I'd imagine Ducasse was in way over his head in his rookie year. The talent and physical ability is there, he just needs to understand the game to the point that it's second nature instead of second guessing yourself.

Oh so now saying Ds in 1985 where much easier to read than in 2011 is talking out of my ass? Also Dan Marino was one of the greatest QBs in history and his supreme accuracy, poise etc etc could well have made up for any shortcomings at a logical level...

Also it's entirely possible that Marino just didn't gve a fuck when he took the wonderlic... and he still scored 3 more points than a guy who's supposedly a hard working guy that I'm sure studied to pass it.

Right. Or, the Wonderlic could just have very little application to actual football intelligence.

But by all means, keep talking out of your ass.

So by your logic you can figure Marino didnt give a f*ck but you are SURE Vlad studied to pass it so therefore Vlad is dumb.....so how many more points should we add to Marino's score since you know he didnt give a f*ck but Vlad studied his ass off? Oh, this totally makes sense....

actually you couldnt be more wrong. he was pegged as a top OL prospect with the only knock on him being the fact hes only played the sport for a few years and a lower level of competition.

i saw plenty of footage on him and I even told Badger previous to the draft. hes got first rd talent but will go in the second for the previous reasons mentioned.

hes better suited as a RT actually. hes a road grader with solid feet. his problems are reading NFL fronts pre-snap.

which is why reading that him and Callahan put in extra time together is very very comforting IMO.

the day this guy was drafted many Jets fans discussed the possibility of him kicking out to RT cause of his skillset.

why draft a project from D2 school in 2nd round? didnt learn from VG i guess ..VD looks like a child among men when he plays..NOT NFL material IMO...2nd rounders should start and do well....HOPE should not be involved with anyone in the first 2 rounds

What does VG have to do with drafting a project from a D2 school in the 2nd round? VD played pretty well week 17.
