Sounds like The Raiders will wait for the Jets Dennis thurman contract to expire with the Jets , as Bresnahan might just be the temporary DC.

Here is Hue Jackson interview where he discusses Dennis Thurman.

    http://www.sbreport.net/raider_news/008/6059.html

Jackson also revealed his desire to add Dennis Thurman to his staff. “When it’s all said and done and it’s over, he’s working for a great coach in Rex Ryan,” Jackson said at the scouting combine. “I have a lot of respect for Rex Ryan. But I also think that [Thurman] wanted the opportunity to maybe to come home. But it didn’t happen this time. In the future, as we move forward, who knows. It might happen again some other time.”(IE When his contract expires)

The Jets secondary coach has a prior working relationship with Jackson, with USC (1997-2000) and the Baltimore Ravens (2008).

Oakland shouldn’t feel slighted, as Ryan and the Jets did not allow new Titans coach Mike Munchak the opportunity to talk to the Jets offensive line coach and ex-Raiders head coach, Bill Callahan.

“That’s the way it goes,” Munchak commented. “That’s the process. Obviously, we would have loved to talk to him, but that’s the way it goes.”

Teams that are consistently good for a period of time lose their coaches... that's just the way it is. If we'll have another solid year (play-offs) we should expect to be losing guys like Thurman and Callahan (hopefully he takes Schotty's place).

What the Pats (ugh) did so well is bring in capable guys to replace the talented coaches they lost... hopefully we'll do the same.

Oh and by the way... the career of your temporary DC (from Rotoworld):

Bresnahan was also a defensive coordinator in Cincinnati in the mid-2000s, overseeing units that ranked 28th, 30th, and 25th in total defense before he was fired in 2007. He was out of football in 2008 and spent the last two years in the UFL.

    SUPABOWL!!! :p

Also He was last Dc of the Raiders from 2000- 2002 . Last time he was DC the Raiders went to the superbowl. He knows what expected from the Dc of the Raiders(style you must play), and what it is to work with Al Davis. Two qualities that make him a nice t5emporary solution at Dc Imo.

I'm pretty sure Thurman wants the opportunity to win a Superbowl, Hue......that's not going to happen with Jason Campbell as your QB.

His chances are better with Rex and company.

I know reading not your strong suit but Hue Jackson and Thurman are close friends, IF Hue Jackson was going to offer Thurman the job, he knows exactly what Thurman was thinking.

Reread this 100 times and maybe it sinks in what hes saying. “I have a lot of respect for Rex Ryan. But I also think that [Thurman] wanted the opportunity to maybe to come home. But it didn’t happen this time. In the future, as we move forward, who knows. It might happen again some other time.”(IE When his contract expires)

Again Hue Jackson can only say that at this time because Thurman is the property of the New York Jets and Raiders could be hit with tampering charges.

There was no maybe, Thurman and Hue Jackson are good friends he knows exactly what Thurman was thinking. They probably discussed it as friends when Hue Jackson got the job.

Hue Jackson supposedly told Thurman The Jets are still burning up over the Heidigame and they are just mad they went all in last year and came up short and now they are going to pay for it next year.

This is a shitty post to you because It reveals the truth. Dennis Thurman wanted to go to the Raiders to become their DC. Rex denied him the oppurtunity to advance in his career. (shame on you Rex as a longtime assistant coach)

Can't spin it anyway else. Sounds like Thurman will be joining the good guys(Raiders) when his contract up. Free at last , Free at last . That what Dennis thurman will be saying when his contract is up.

Hahaha classic RaiderJoe... welcome back :p.

Jackson and Thurman might well be good friends but the guy is a close friend of Rex too. Probably, like they prob did with Callahan, they told him to stick together one more year and if some opportunities came up for an in-house promotion good, otherwise they'd let him pursue his career elsewhere.
I'm sure Rex didn't tie Thurman to a wall, if he'd really wanted to leave he wouldn't be in NY now.

That said with a moron as a DC, Al Davis coming back from the dead once again to take control of crazy financial decisions (new contracts), your OL guru leaving for Seattle (let's see your running game now) and no 1st rd pick you must be looking forward to a marvellous season! Enjoy it :)

Again we will see when his contract is up. Hue Jackson sounds(hinted) like he pretty sure Thurman will be with the raiders at some point. ( Thurman wants to return home)

Things can change. Raiders win the superbowl and its tough to get rid of your DC .
