I love my head coach... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703933404576170630080158412.html?mod=WSJ_NY_Sports_LEFT_LEADNewsCollection
random nfl moron fan "Rex needs to shut the fuck up. He sounds like a fucking clown, the media thinks hes an idiot, and other coaches think he has no respect for the league. I hate him, because he is also fat." VVVVVVVVV hmmmmmmmmmmm......who should rex care about? the media, or players? tough one huh?
^ Reading the comments section on that site lowers IQ. Is it no wonder why he is a top coach in this league. I love the fuck out of this guy.
They should bring that out as a cologne on the Jets shop: "The Allure of Playing" a new fragrance from Rex Ryan. A rich creamy buttery scent. Soft, subtle, but very pleasing. For those who want a different scent away from the florals and fruit.
Why would anyone want to play Football for a coach that creates a winning atmosphere and demands his players have fun. Playing a sport for a living, is serioos bidness it should not be phun.
Playing for a coach that makes things fun is a HUGE plus, but I still think it boils down to the money. If you had the choice between working for a fun office manager while getting paid less or working for a jackass office manager while getting paid more, which would you take? Having said that, when you combine the fun of playing for Rex with Tannenbaum's ability to work the cap...
Fuck that, the Patriot way is the only way to succeed in the NFL. Having a sense of humor is classless.
personally, if it is even comparable, i take the fun job every day of the week. But if there is a substantial difference (as in say 3 million dollars a year) it would be hard to pass up....
I just think the "players love him/players hate him" thing for coaches is overrated. A few years ago Tom Coughlin was a cruel task master and no one wanted to come play for him. The Giants had just finished up the first year of Coughlin's tenure and gone 6-10 while starting a rookie QB for half the season. Despite being in rebuilding mode and having a "taskmaster HC" they still managed to sign Antonio Pierce, Kareem MacKenzie, and Plaxico Burress that offseason.
But maybe they had to overpay at least a little bit. Like some had said before, the chance to play/work in a place that you like with people (specially bosses) that you like, can really make you take the lower side of your desired wage. -An uncle used to say to me: "I work for free... the wage is just because I have to put up with my boss idiotic decissions".
Don't remember the FA period during that time but did the Giants get those players by simply putting up similar offers to competing teams or did they simply blow away the competition? Players will always follow the money (which I think everyone agrees with). However, having a coach that players like to play for can be the tie-breaker when salary offers from multiple teams are similar.
I see the Patriots just signed DT Marcus Stroud and the Saints took Shaun Rogers off the market - both were signed short contracts. I don't know if the Jets had these guys on their radar but they obviously were not waiting around to play for Rex. I don't see why the Jets are not trying to get some free agents under contract with one year deals right now because now might be the time to lock up some high need players. Do the Jets just think players are gonna line up and wait just so they can play for Rex? Its not happening. The Jets need D-Lineman and pass rush linebackers that can also cover backs and tight ends. They should of signed one or 2 of these players already - at least to one year contracts. What are they waiting for?
To my way of thinking so far he has won NOTHING so sorry I respectfully disagree with your statement. Also after of a few years of ranting about winning the SB that will go old also & some new hot shot coach will become the media darlings :jets:
