http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=352408 This is the second article in about 2 weeks of the Jets looking into some CFL talent. Most likely just filling roster spots cheaply instead of Signing NFL FA's
The Pride of Fresno State! G-Mac has one of best motors I've ever seen in a player. He was a walk-on that ended up being an all-conference defender.
He looked good in Hamilton, and he said that he'll def be a practice squad guy with a roster spot potential. I like it. Good, cheap depth.
Let's hope he's the next Cameron Wake (and not the next Ricky Foley)! How old is he? The Fresno State site says his final college year was 2004. BTW, talking about OLBs... did we re-sign Shawn Crable? He was on our PS but no news about him re-signing with the Jets...
Anyone coming from the CFL is a long shot, but I will never write this kid off after what he did at Fresno State. He came out of nowhere to become one of the best defenders ever for that program. I still remember him lighting up Matt Leinart during the USC/Fresno game.
Ahh kinda like Eric Foster at Rutgers, I think he was something like 265 in college. He fits in perfectly with Indy's undersized defense.
I'm not saying he's going to come in here, earn some playing time, or even make the damn team... I'm just saying this guy works his ass off, so if he does end up making the roster, I won't be surprised.
thanks for hte info. sounds like the kind of guy that rex loves. i get what you're saying about him not surprising you if he makes the roster, but being realistic this is a practice squad guy with a big ceiling.... is that accurate?
That's definitely accurate. Here's a pretty nice compliment from a coach that sends a lot of relatively unknown guys to the NFL:
i got excited when the Jets signed a few players from the CFL to the preseason roster, and then got disappointed when none of them panned out. i was almost positive that little larry taylor wouldve made the roster, he was electric at UConn on special teams and brought the same talented kick return game to the CFL, yet we cut him. i'm still upset the Jets got out bidded by the vikings for Emmanuel Arceneaux. he is a young, talented wideout with upside and a decent build at 6'2 210.
