The C- rating given to Cmart was a FANTASY FOOTBALL rating. He may very well play a pivotal role for us this year and wind up as a fantasy dog. There really is little comparison between a player's fantasy/real world value. Would you draft CMart in the 1st rd/early 2nd rd of your fantasy draft???
Look out guys we have a new offensive co-ordinator... Hes very young and hes the son of a great schottenheimer... Yer u guessed it its Kurt Schottenheimer son of marty
i think the NFL.com power ranking r a bit more accurate 32. New York Jets Another new head coach in Eric Mangini who comes from the Patriots. The Jets went from a team that was a missed field goal away from playing in the 2004 AFC Championship Game to a team that won only four games in 2005. The Jets need a running back to replace Curtis Martin, who for the first time in his career did not gain 1,000 yards. The hope is that Chad Pennington is able to return to his pre-injury form.
Ouch. Ok we're not dominating this year but we haven't purged the roster of all its talent....we should be better then a few teams.
In fact we have many pieces in place to be a good/great defense to go along with a consistent offence (if chad returns to form). If the law of averages holds true, it will be someone else's team who has playoffs aspirations only to have there marquee players out due to injury, meaning we will be competitive in more games then we realize. I also feel Dbrick is an immediate improvement over Fabini, rookie status or not, which should help the passing game. We have depth at running back and O-line, so we should be better prepared at handling injuries and keeping some sort of running game. Justin Miller and Mike Nugent should continue to improve, which can only help the team. We won't keep ineffective veterans in the game just because there vets We will adjust to our opponent and play to attack there weaknesses Nope, can't agree with 32nd ranking.
I agree. It is refreshing to see an opinion like this coming from somewhere other than this message board. I can't tell you how many times in recent years non-Jet fans have said, "well at least you have a good coach" when they heard I was a Jet fan. My response was usually, "He is a lot easier to like when he isn't your coach." "Herm Edwards is a great coach" is easily one of the greatest myths in the NFL...a myth I expect to be exposed as such in the next several years as Herm dismantles the Chiefs. But could you imagine if the Chiefs make the playoffs this year? They will probably start immediate work on a new wing at Canton for a shine to Herm.
As I was reading the part about Edwards....I thought the exact same thing. Those words have been echoed on this board by many for some time now...and to finally read it in the press is both a welcome sight...and pretty damn disturbing. Either the local press is just flat out stupid...or they failed to uphold their job description because of a sick man love they had for a guy that gave them their news on a platter every nonsensical day. One wonders if they will be as fair to EM. EM, thankfully, will spare us about stories of buses...89% healthy, kool aid and the infamous, game changing "you play to win the game" speeches. In defense of Hermy, more teams have really played to win the game then lose the game since that speech  ...which I guess is a good thing. As far as the Jets part...its the most realistic article I have read all year.
I drank the Kool-Aid ....tasted pretty good for a while ..... I'm glad Herm is gone but the sad thing is once he experience's his initial success everyone will think the jets were idiots for letting him go. My best guess is he will get the team into the playoffs, and maybe more considering all the changes to enhance the defense. The majority of nfl fans will feel like we've given up our greatest commodity, and it'll end up another chink in the jets legacy like Kyle Brady over Sapp. And by the time things start eroding in KC, he'll retire (abruptly). He'll have secured his legacy with the media and the only one's who realize he is a bad coach are the nyj and kc fans (and players although they won't admit it). Edwards may not be a game day coach, but he's certainly smart enough to find a way out of town when things aren't looking so good.
that was a fantasy grade, which i still dont agree with, but the reasoning was there. "Due to all the qeustion marks on offense" I guess we wont be reaching the opposing 30 yard line that much  its just fantasy offseason jabberjaw talk, besides these guys sit in cubicles and rely upon other media dribble for their references.
