i really dont think they would release him but he is being payed pretty good and it would help the cap and goodwin is ok but the jets NEED kendall
I don't want them to release Kendall either. He's an excellent guard, and from everything I understand he's an excellent leader and locker room presense as well. I'd rather release Mawae, and considering how much I like and admire Mawae, that is really saying something.
ya goodwin will probley be realsed this year and the jets will take a replace ment for him if the jets do release kendall or if the relase maiwe they will take a C in the 3rd or 4rd
I think they need a bigger center and bigger guards. The line does not move people off the ball. Kendall is undersized by today's standards and so is Mawae. They will probably keep one because they cannot afford to let both go. But ideally, they need to be much bigger in the interior OL.
It's not even an option. The Jets are around $23M over the cap and have until Friday to be under. Kendall will be gone. Mawae will be gone. Dearth will be gone. If Ellis or Robertson being cut gives us more cap room than it would with them on the roster, one or both of them will be gone. There is no time to screw around and try to restructure, restructure, restructure.
Maybe you aren't getting what I am saying. We are $23,000,000 over the cap. I don't want to cut those guys. If we don't, though, we are fucked. We have less than 72 hours to shave $23,000,000 off of our salary cap.
There's something called a salary cap, Kendall is still good IMO but he needs to be cut. Mawae needs to be traded and if we cant then cut him. Goodwin also can be cut. We need to get under the cap to rebuild, next year is pretty much a crap year anyways so it doesnt matter.
I believe if we cut Kendall there are no cap penalties *disclaimer* I am basing this off of Madden. They are pretty on point about the salaries but not 100% accurate*disclaimer*
Check out this site in JetsIn2004's sig: http://www.wissearch.net/Jets/default.aspx Keeping Kendall is $5,187,000 against the cap. Cutting him would cause a cap hit of $4,362,000, meaning we'd save around $825,000 on the cap if we cut him. The numbers aren't 100% reliable, but the best you'll probably get.
Mawae is more likely to be cut. He has openly said he will refuse any pay cut and is confident he can find a starting job someplace else. Kendall has said he wouldn't like a pay cut but Kendall show his value last year, he played two positions , played hurt and was the voice of the players in the locker room plus there is no quality depth behind them. If they got rid of both of them they might as well just cut Chad and trade Martin and start from scratch. I think they will find other places to get cap relief.
According to an interview with Mawae on a satellite radio station, he was never approached by the Jets about a pay cut and never told them he wouldn't take one. But we would save nearly $3M on the cap if we did cut him, so I do agree he is more likely to be cut.
I just don't think it is a wise decision to cut Mawae and Kendall. We can cut one but I think we would be spreading our depth even thinner than it was if we get rid of both. Not to mention Kendall's versatility would be useful in rebuilding the line. We could get a Guard or a Center and he could take the other spot. With Fabini already gone, do we really want to cut three starters? As bad as our line was, do you think we can find 3 better players in one year?
