I'm not even sure the contract gets paid up if they get cut (I think they just get some pro rata share), but yes, these guys are ours until we cut/waive them.

Maybe one or two of them amount to something some day but we're talking about the dregs of the NFL here (guys who weren't on active rosters, IR, or practice squads at the end of the year). It's still smart to sign them up know so you don't have to scurry for bodies when/if the lockout ends, but it's essentially a non story.

Washington was not about to get anytime behind Greene, McKnight, and possibly a return of LT.

Is this the same Chris Jennings that played for the Cleveland Browns under Mangini?

I wonder how much these kids actually get in money when they sign a 'future contract'?

Good use of a spot on Cole.

I wonder what they actually get in their pockets if/when they get cut in TC. I assume they get something but the Jets cap savings is for the full amount. Needless to say my understanding of the financial aspect of football is limited at best.

I'm pretty sure they get something like a grand a week (maybe two) in training camp and then about 15k a game when the season starts. We're not spending big bucks on these guys. They've talked about it in past hard knocks seasons; these guys are killing themslves for next to nothing except free room and board and (depending on the team) some jerseys and tshirts-although some teams make you pay for the jerseys if you keep them!

Also, Cole isn't one of the futures contracts. He got a real live contract.

This only applies to players that were not on any NFL teams 'active roster' last season (2010) when it ended.
If they are under contract, they stay until March when they are either, cut or renegotiated.
IF they were signed to the practice squad though, they are now free to sign with any team.

Played for BC as well. His nickname was "1st & Toal" due to him getting carries on short yardage. A Westhoff player is ever I saw one.

I think you missed the point. CW is an FA, and they signed two other RB's to he practice squad, this is about the PS signings... so they opted for two other RB's over CW. Maybe CW isn't PS eligable.

I don't think he is. He's going into his 4th year. I don't think they are futures eligible.
