No, mostly because teams that lose 1 Conference Title game were like 18-1 in the next one before tonight.
This is Rex/Scott/Leonhards 3rd year in a row losing the AFCCG. I expect this team to be more fired up than ever next year
I predict a big let down/ hangover of a season coming up before a rersurgence the following year. We were actually pretty fortunate with injuries this season to the Oline and key skill players, which you cannot always count on. We also need some youth/fire and athleticism in the defensive front, particularly OLB and DE-- our DL pluggers usually get'r done but we have 5 OLBs that all suck. A lot of pieces of this team were built for "right now". This was our best shot since 1998 and you remember how the next season ended after that debacle.
its tough returning 3 times in a row. I can see them making the playoffs, but getting knocked out earlier.... they'll win it all one of these years, or at least make it to the bowl. They walked into 3 HOF QBs, and Rodgers is playing like one too. This was a tall order.
Who cares about stats. Last year we were on a good run and happened to make it. This year we weren't the favorites still...were getting better & soon we'll be in a position where we will have home playoff games & be more dominant. Were gonna improve, that's for sure. The Jets are legitimate...they play in the hardest conference & battle the Pats every year. We'll be back.
I agree, it is definitely "our" best shot since 1998. Similarly, this team has a rental coach with a penchant for leaving a franchise high and dry after 3 years, a beyond aging QB and the Jets are left in salary cap hell....... All in all very similar situations totally agree, this franchise is fucking doomed.
We won't be "more fired up".........but we will have a franchise QB, who by next postseason, will have matured to the point where he'll be single handedly winning us games. Some guys will have played their last game as a Jet tonight, and we'll make some additions this offseason........but by far the biggest advancement between tonight and next year, will be the leaps and bounds of improvement Mark makes next year. Mark only has 51 starts under his belt (between college and the pro's)......his next season, will be the one where he makes by far the biggest strides.
Browns lost back-to-backs in 1986 and 1987....bad year in 1988...ditched Marty....lost in 1990 AFC CG again.
And hence the reason for sentance #2. We were fortunate to be very healthy this season, with the exception of Jenkins
Did some research.. Here is what I found in The AFC Miami went to 3 straight in the early 70's and won all 3 Oakland went to 5 straight in the mid 70's losing the first 3 winning the next one and losing again in the last one Bills went to 4 straight in the 90's Browns went to 3 in 4 years in the late 80's losing all 3 to Denver Fuck New England's mini run So no AFC team has lost 2 in a row and won the superbowl HOWEVER the Raiders lost 3 in a row before winning in their 4th try and winning the superbowl... Maybe our 3rd time is a charm
Not to be a gloomy gus, but I don't think this team ever wins another title. I've rooted for this piece of shit team for quite awhile now and there's always something to prevent them from reaching the promised land. Let's just be happy they are competitive and that they aren't doormats. And let's hope schitty is fucking fired soon.
Woody? Leonhard? Pitoitua? You're looking at things the wrong way, this team getting to the AFCCG again proves we weren't lightning in a bottle in 09, and that we will be contening for a while. Sanchez is only going to get better and more consistent.
I don't see the similarities you listed above- how'd you make all those deductions? If you've got some great insights to better opportunities "we've" had to enjoy a Jets SB as fans since 1998 I'd welcome that refresher. I don't remember a more talented team, personally.
