yeah, i know it's waaay too early , but , as of now we have two 2nd rounders in the 2007 draft ( washington's & our own ) : '07 NFL Draft: Breaking down the top 25 By: TFY Draft Preview Date: Jul 1, 2006 Scouting is a twelve month process with minimal time off. Though the college season is still two months away and the 2007 draft another ten months in the offing, here's a quick breakdown on the top 25 draft eligible prospects. 1-Brady Quinn/QB/Notre Dame: NFL style passer showing great progress the past two seasons. Offers tremendous physical skills and learning the pro-system deal under Irish coach Charlie Weiss. 2- Adrian Peterson*/RB/Oklahoma: Productive ball carrier offering a great combination of power, instincts and style. Top five selection next April if he stays healthy and declares for the draft. 3- Calvin Johnson*/WR/Georgia Tech: Powerful receiver with natural pass catching skills. A great red-zone threat who possesses tremendous size and soft hands. 4-Ted Ginn Jr*/WR/Ohio St: Game breaking receiver who also impacts the game as a return specialist. Reminds people of former Buckeye Joey Galloway. 5- Brian Brohm*/QB/Louisville: Large pocket passer with the physical skills and mental make-up to start in the NFL. Needs time to complete his game but a high pick in the future. 6- Quentin Moses/DE/Georgia: Speedy edge rusher who terrorizes quarterbacks off the corner. Classic 4-3 right defensive end. 7- Michael Bush/RB/Louisville: Big interior ball-carrier who offers the skills to be a feature runner at the next level. Effective in the open field while also offering the skills to be a goal-line/short yardage back. 8- Joe Thomas/T/Wisconsin: Effective pass blocking left tackle coming off a serious knee injury. A possible top 15 selection in last April?s draft had he not suffered the injury and opted for the NFL. 9- Gaines Adams/DE/Clemson: Terrific pass rusher who flashes ability dropped off the line in space. Has potential as a conventional defensive end or rush linebacker in a 3-4 defense. 10- LaRon Landry/S/LSU: Complete defensive back forceful against the run and effective in coverage. Sized well and a potential top 15 choice. 11- Jeff Samardzija/WR/Notre Dame: King sized receiver whose game is on the upswing. Controls the game while also breaking is open. Also has a career in professional baseball. 12- Leon Hall/CB/Michigan: Shut down corner who makes a lot of plays on the ball. Offers immediate starting potential at the next level. 13- Justin Blalock/T/Texas: Classic right tackle with a great degree of athleticism. Dominant blocker who destroys opponents, never giving up an inch of room. 14- LaMarr Woodley/DE/Michigan: Explosive defender effective in a three point stance or standing up over tackle. Makes a lot of plays up the field rushing the passer as well as out to the sidelines in run defense. 15- Sidney Rice*/WR/South Carolina: Game breaking receiver slowly developing a complete game. Benefits under Steve Spurrier's offensive system yet a legitimate big time prospect. 16- Drew Stanton/QB/Michigan State: Strong-armed passer who effectively commands the Spartans west coast offense. Offers potential in several different systems and could make a move up draft boards. 17- Darrelle Revis*/CB/Pittsburgh: Nice sized corner who shuts down opponents on the college level. Offers great upside and a player to watch. 18- Jason Hill/WR/Washington State: Game controlling pass catcher with a solid combination of size and speed. The "go-to guy" defenses cannot stop. 19- Frank Okam*/DT/Texas: Large run stuffer on the inside who commands double teams yet holds the point. Classic defensive tackle who'll also be given consideration on the nose. 20- Antoine Cason*/CB/Arizona: Dynamite cornerback with great upside. Needs to complete his game but potentially a top-twelve pick in '07. 21- H.B. Blades/OLB/Pittsburgh: Versatile linebacker with great bloodlines. Not flashy rather efficient and very productive. 22- Marshawn Lynch*/RB/California: Explosive ball carrier coming off a breakout season. Lacks the classic size yet a versatile skill player who can be used in several different roles. 23- Brandon Meriweather/S/Miami-Fl: True centerfield prospect with potential at cornerback. Lacks top safety size yet offers solid cover skills and a three down player at his position. 24- Dwayne Jarrett*/WR/USC: Matt Leinart's favorite target the past two seasons. Possesses great size and even better natural receiving skills. Fast forty-times could push him into the top 15 next April should he jump to the NFL. 25- Justin Harrell/DT/Tennessee: A silent killer and unheralded defensive lineman. A steady force for the Volunteers the past three years and offers first round potential.
oh, for you folks from jersey, remember, Dwayne Jarrett went to New Brunswick High School . . .
Ted Ginn Jr. that high and Dwayne Jarrett that low is ridiculous. Ginn is a deep threat and speedster whom knows little about playing receiver... Jarrett is a Keyshawn type talent coming out of college. Second to only Calvin Johnson because of his incredible hands.
i love Ted Ginn, but at his size, no way he is rated that high. Not to say he can't be great someday.
Yeah I agree. If it were a few months before the draft this would be a good place to post it, but we still have like 10 months.
Looks like we may be in line for Gaines Adams... I think it is either going to be him or one of the big WRs with a RB taken in the 2nd round.
i think we will probably have a pick in the top 5 of the 1st round in the 2007 draft. if we do NOT trade down ( & obtain some additional picks ) ; i think we'll draft the best pass rushing DE on the board. as of now we have two 2nd rounders in the 2007 draft ( washington's & ours ). we may package these two picks to obtain an additional 1st round pick in the 2007 draft. i believe we'll target a big WR with that pick. we'll see.
Hey! hey! hey! Let's not forget Marcus Thomas; DT from The University of Florida (another one of my guys! Mandarin High School in Jacksonville). It's not just me amping one of my own; he just happens to be a Sporting News 1st team All SEC and 1st team All American. 6'3 1/2 290 (he played at 311 last season). Also, let us not forget Lorenzo Booker RB from Florida State (his combine workout will be what puts him in possibly the end of the first round- if he stays healthy) Brandon Siler, LB from The University of Florida is another. I know these guys are all Florida guys and it seems like favoritism, but, C'mon, the state of Florida has the best talent in the country.
I like that you have Ginn high up, he seems to be very underrated on this site IMO. Joe Thomas and Drew Stanton should be higher.
No way should Ginn be above Rice and Jarrett. Both are far superier football players, and even though Ginn's athleticism gives him bigtime potential, that of DJ and Rice is probably still higher. Right Now, I'd take any of Johnson, Jarrett, and Rice in the top 5, Ginn late first round.
can we not talk about the 2007 draft now????? we dont even know where we will be picking yet we could go 0-16 or 16-0 but when the season ends THEN u can start talking abnout the draft
