Thank you Gusto - I posted that video in an earlier thread and I agree w/you and this video is must watching for all Jets fans. The hype and the media talking is one thing, but Dennis Byrd really lays out what this is really all about. He is a true inspiration.
I love the Dennis Byrd angle and all, but seriously... win this for the fans. I am only a sufferer of about 15 years but many others have suffered far too long. Yes, I'm selfish.
While I agree that Byrd being involved with the organization is awesome there is a lot of crap that needs to buried if we win this thing. For starters Mark Gastineau's 4th and long late hit on Bernie Kosar goes into 6 foot ditch. Drafting Blair Thomas, Jeff Lageman, Jonny Lam Jones and Mike Haight go into the ditch The Mud Bowl MO Lewis giving us Tom Brady Belli's one day coaching stint Joe Namath's knees and most importantly SOJ will be gone forever.
Win the ring for Al Toon, one of my favorite players. Win the ring for Marvin Jones and Aaron Glenn. Win the ring for us, the fans, that suffered through the fake spike, the Kotite years and all the horrible drafts.
Win it for the fans (not myself) who have been through it all, from all the crappy draft picks, the fake spike, Kotite, etc. Win it for Dennis Byrd, Shaun Ellis, Joe Klecko, Mark Gastineau, Wayne Chrebet, Curtis Martin, Aaron Glenn, Marvin Jones, Mo Lewis, Victor Greene, and my list goes on, but more importantly, win it for yourselves. Win it for Mike T, and Rex Ryan, win it, because we deserve it, and you want it more. Although whatever happens, I'm still proud of this team, and proud to never abandon this team when we suck, and proud to wear dark green, and proud to be apart of some of the best fans in the league..
Honestly I think that Byrd was a big factor in that game. He brought reality back to the Jets and how important the game was.
