http://captainclutch.blogspot.com/2011/01/for-jets-this-showdown-may-be-business.html Haven't posted here for awhile, good time to make a comeback.. Wzup guys And thanks to those of you who read...
People are lazy or just cant see it sir There is hate around for Rex's recent comments about Bellicheck. People think Rex is crazy for the headline thrown around every sports show and article written about it. People are just too blind and stupid to see what he really said. But whatever. Its personal for every coach, player, and fan. Its the Patriots. Lets do this.
This is excellent!!!!! I believe that you have captured the sentiments of the fan base accurately. I really hope they get it done on Sunday.
Agreed. Ryan made the comment in the press conference about how its personal vs belicheck this week so now they feel like they have to show it three times a show on sportscenter and blow it out of context
eh, thats a pretty venal sin in my opinion. Committing the whole thing to writing and broadcasting it like its something of remote significance on the other hand . . .
that was a great read.... thanks for posting that.. i wish somehow rex ryan would get a hold of that and read it to the team just before kickoff..
Yep, twins in fact! Yes I made a mistake. Thank you for being constrctive about it. Appreciate it. Thank you for reading. Thank you. I think your post is actually quite fitting. Where did I act like its of signifiance? I simply posted a Jets related blog entry on a Jets forum. I posted the link and thanked those who would take the time to read it. Thanks for reading.
I respect this guys enthusiasm and dedication to the Jets. No doubt I believe he is all in. But his claims to have been through some kind of hardship with this team is a little hollow. Afterall, he's only 23 yrs old. I just turned 40, and was born a year after the Jets won the Super Bowl. He's seen the post Parcells era and not much more. There's some good football in there. I started watching the Jets when I was 5 or 6, I vaguely remember Namath playing and my first QB was Richard Todd. Of course, we all know what the history has been since then. If this kid thinks he knows heartache and pain and "character building" he's got nothing on GenX right here. And for the older guys, at least they have a "ring" to claim. I've got nothing, squat, nadda. As a result, I want this game and a Super Bowl way more than this kid can even freaking comprehend. As far as I'm concerned, he's been spoiled.
Something like that. I love when young Jets fans try to paint themselves as full of "character" built through years of watching losing teams. I guess they are just adopting the aura we older, more battle tested fans have been putting out there. Theyre probably raised by Jet fans who are cynical as fuck like myself. Little do they know that whatever they feel, we feel it 100x more because we have been bought in for so long with no reward.
I haven't been through it nearly as long as you. I'm 31, barely recall 86, and was 3 for the Mud Bowl. Since my father's not a Jets fan, and my circuitous path to fandom didn't really come to full fruition until 89, I can really only lay claim to the suffering of the early 90s myself.
Yeah, well you can thank God you don't recall the Browns game in 86'. I was 16 when that happened and still haven't fully recovered. I also recall the Mud Bowl vividly, I was 12 and I cried like a baby. It got so bad at one point I actually started rooting for the NJ Generals to give me a little hope, but it just wasn't the same. The Jets had some really good players in the early to mid 80's but couldn't put it all together. I fear this team will do the same. It's a never ending cycle of buildup, then letdown. I'm so used to it, it's like breathing itself.
I watched the game in 86 (well, 87, I guess)--at 7, we watched whatever NFL games were on locally--but I wasn't much of a Jets fan yet at that point. Funny thing is, it was my sister who always had the games on. She was a Broncos fan for some unknown reason, and was watching that game mostly for the opponent. I got into the Jets mostly because my father was a WWII baby given up for adoption in NY. It took a while to really get into them, but I wanted the team from New York to win. If it weren't for seeing the Jets live at my first NFL game, I might have been a Giants fan *shudder*. Thank God for divine circumstance.
That's an interesting route to Jets fandom. Where I grew up, ( Long Island) Jets fandom was a birthright, with them training at Hofstra and playing at Shea all those years. The Giants stunk in the 70's, so there was really no aura about them at all for kkds my age. We were indoctrinated to the cult of Namath and got punked.
